I read an article on elderly having trouble sitting, so practice squatting, I say if you’re having trouble sitting practice sitting. Train at it. I’m no physical therapist, and don’t get me wrong, do I believe that if I’m struggling to sit on a toilet I’m also OPTING for wall sits?! Absolutely the fuck not. I’m simply saying as someone who often makes lofty goals when I’m feeling like I need to change, and suddenly shifts personalities when it comes down to actually changing shit… I have spent a lot of time simplifying where I can and it’s really made a difference in my progress.
Not to say you shouldn’t learn the squats, and if you progress past the seating and eventually you want to elevate the experience, get that shit moving, but in my opinion, training in the gym is all well and good, but finding movement that is healthy for your body, where your body is at this moment, is even fucking better. THAT is functional to me.
