I hear about intuitive eating all the time, the problem was my intuition was broken. It told me to eat cookies, cakes and sugars until I was sick. I stopped trusting myself. I flip flopped between ridged structure of food plans to eating whatever I wanted. The cycle felt out of control.
Today, after generally maintain my body weight for about two years, I have learned about the concept of light structure. I do eat more intuitively now, and I do not need to use my food plan as often. I still pull out the measuring cup and food scale daily.
Why? Because the light structure of knowing I have met my protein goals, or my carbohydrates on track stops the crazy gremlins in my head that sabotage my success.
