With the rise in popularity of the concept of dieting from every angle, including Paleo and low-carb, there is growing skepticism by some people about whether any of them are viable requiring what they think is the unnecessary restriction of some food, ingredient, or macronutrient. This is something that concerned endurance sports writer and certified sports nutritionist Matt Fitzgerald so much that he decided to address what he describes as the failure of the "one-size-fits-all" nutritional approach in his provocatively-titled 2014 book Diet Cults: The Surprising Fallacy at the Core of Nutrition Fads and a Guide to Healthy Eating for the Rest of US. This book has already been quite controversial in the health community which is why Jimmy wanted to speak with Matt about the premise of his new book.
