Listen Later

Are you using wordless picture books in your speech therapy sessions?

If you have been following me for a while, you probably already know that I absolutely love wordless resources. Wordless videos and picture books make learning so much fun!

If you are new to this idea and wondering why you should use wordless picture books, you don’t want to miss this episode of SLP Coffee Talk. I sat down with Hanna Stroud to dive deeper into the topic of wordless picture books and explain how they can take your therapy sessions to the next level.

Hanna Stroud has operated a tutoring and consulting company, called My Literacy Space, since 2008 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Previously Hanna worked for the Calgary Board of Educations supporting the Resource Team with literacy instruction for children K-6. Providing one-on-one tutoring sessions with a focus on language and literacy skills, Hanna is passionate about structured literacy, children’s picture books, and multisensory learning activities.

For over a decade, Hanna has been a National Trainer for Reading With TLC and provided training for their Lively Letters method of teaching children to read. Hanna also provides webinars and in-person workshops for parents, educators, and organizations every month. Some of the important topics covered are the benefits of wordless picture books to build language and literacy skills, the importance of a structured literacy approach, comprehension skills, and other engaging topics.

Tune in to hear the benefits of wordless picture books, the best books to get started, and how to start incorporating them in your speech therapy sessions!
