In this episode, I discuss some themes in working with Black male narcissists in the therapy. I discuss various themes including being dismissiveness towards me because I am a Black mental health professional, attempts to establish dominance in therapy, manipulation, and attempting to cross boundaries.

In this episode, I discuss other causes of personality disorders, or behavioral changes that are similar to personality disorder traits. These issues can cause volatile, manipulative, impulsive, and in some cases violent behavior. I explore personality changes caused by long-term alcohol and drug use, neurodegenerative illnesses such as Alzheimer's disease, AIDS related dementia, Wernicke Korsakoff's syndrome; CTE, and personality changes caused by seizure disorders.

Romance scams are rising through the use of online dating apps and social media. People are being targeted for money, sex, resources, and affiliations by people who they fall in love with but have no idea who they really are. The scammer lives multiple lives and often discards one victim after the other, leaving a trail of destruction. You often find out how much they don't care for you after they are long gone and have ruined your finances. By the time you wake up to the scam, they are already on to the next victim. No one is exempt from this scam, and people who are vulnerable, elderly, successful, and celebrities are often targeted.

In honor of National Pride Month, I explore how toxic homoerotica shows up in heterosexual female friendships. Women who develop a romantic attraction towards their friend, become obsessed with their friend's life. They are jealous of their friend's romantic interest, and other friends. They want to keep their friend all to themselves, and will lash out towards their friend if there is a threat of anyone else becoming the priority. A good movie for reference is Single White Female.

I share some of my general thoughts about Dr. Sherrie Campbell's book. If you are healing from toxic parents (emotionally abusive or narcissistic), I recommend adding this book to your library.
It is a quick read, very user friendly, uses layman terms, and is relatable to anyone who grew up in a toxic or abusive family!
Purchase the Adult Survivors of Emotionally Abusive Parents

Dr. Leslie Dobson, PhD. and I sit down to discuss her work with predators. She and I discuss how it's important to be more aware, and confident while we exist in a world where people can be dangerous. We also discuss female psychopathy and how that can show up in friendships among women. Lastly, Dr. Leslie Dobson, PhD. leaves us with some tips on women's empowerment.
