This week we're talking about what it's like going on holiday (Vacation for ourAmerican friends) with ADHD! The only two words we can think of describe what it's like 'CHAOS and DISASTER' Last minute packing, tidying, hyper-focus on research and overenthusiastic planning are all things likely to happen if you have ADHD and are going on holiday! Despite the challenges, in this episode we try to find the funny side of the unexpected situations we encounter (That's if we actually manage to get out the door on time, for a holiday!)
The description is just as much as a disaster as the episode! Sorry, we're late and need this out NOW! haha!

It's been a very emotional and intense time for Shell recently as she discusses what the past few weeks has been like emotionally for her and how she's been coping. This week we do cover some sensitive subjects so we encourage you to reach out for help and support if you are affected by any of this weeks discussion.
One of the common symptoms of ADHD is emotional dysregulation, which refers to difficulties in managing and controlling emotions effectively. Individuals with ADHD may experience heightened emotional reactions, difficulty in self-regulating emotions, and a tendency to have intense emotional responses or sometimes no response at all due to overwhelm and shut down. We also discuss some coping stratergies that can help you manage emotional regulation.

Shell has been consistency going to the gym now for a number of months, so we thought we'd both sit down and unpick how in the world someone who hates exercise as much as Shell has has managed to keep this consistency going for so long, even with ADHD!
It's not uncommon for individuals with ADHD to have difficulty with exercise or to feel a dislike towards it. This can be due to several factors, including challenges with motivation, difficulty sustaining interest, and a tendency to get easily bored. However, it's important to remember that exercise can have significant benefits for managing ADHD symptoms.
We talk about the positive benefits of exercise, if you have ADHD. Engaging in regular physical activity can positively impact both your physical and mental well-being.
It's no secret that the both us highly dislike exercise, so we give you some top tips that have helped us to try and enjoy exercising, so hopefully they can work for you too!

This week we're talking about Shell's favourite topic again! MEDICATION!
But, seriously... starting ADHD medication is not an easy choice and it can be an agonising (and sometimes) quite scary decision to make (and let's face it making decisions with ADHD is already not an easy task!)
There are so many opinions to listen to from family, friends and colleagues about wether you should take medication or not. There's also alot of stigma surrounding taking medication for your metal health than there is for other non-mental health conditions.
So what should you do?
In this episode we discuss why taking medication for your mental health has such a stigma attached to it, if you should you take medication for ADHD, what are the options, the benefits and side effects of ADHD medication, and if you do opt out of wanting to take medication what other non medication options are there to manage your ADHD symptoms!

ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) can indeed have an impact on sleep patterns and quality. Many individuals with ADHD experience difficulties with sleep, including falling asleep, staying asleep, and having restful sleep.
Good sleep is essential for productivity and mental health. We all know how we feel after a night of bad sleep, we can feel irritable, cranky and easily fly into a temper.
In this episode we also discuss our own sleeping habits and some little tips how to get better sleep hygiene.
Thank you for listening, and we'll see you next time on A Dopamine Kick!
