Growth Mindset in my addiction recovery is a pillar of my recovery stability.
I reference both of these strategies in my sobriety and recovery. "I'll never use again," versus "One day at a time."
One side of me steers away from absolutes and another side of me knows that my actions are my choice - and being that my choices determine my actions, why not say, "I will never use again."
Conversely, one day at a time is very crucial for me and my development. My journey from sobriety and recovery is predicated upon taking every moment as a blessing and being present in my daily life.
Both comments are a mindset and are utilized by me at different times and in different situations. The main point for me is that I am building a life that doesn't need escaping from and that I am humble and grateful for my everything I have and have gone through.
Daily I ask myself, "am I living with integrity in my actions and what I say?"
In this episode I'll cover:
Key 1: What is your motivation in sobriety and recovery?
- Toward vs Away energy
Key 2: A mindset of recovery vs sobriety
- We all have a choice.
- What is my choice today?
Key 3: What is my plan?
- Have I filled my life with things that are enjoyable?
- Am I working toward something in my life or going about things like I did when I used?
*** The key for me is my mindset. I am not looking for a way out of sobriety and recovery. I am not desiring a reason to go use again. I know, for a fact, without a doubt, that my life is immeasurably better without intoxicants in my system and life.
Sure, every day isn't a walk in the park. It sure as hell wasn't when I was using, why would it be when I am not? The mindset I am in now dictates that whatever is going on in my life - it is better to be dealt with sober than F'd up! ***
