Heather Hargraves joins us to discuss using neurofeedback therapy to heal the brain and build a resilient nervous system.
We also talk about mental health disorders as an adaptive response of the nervous system, rather than a pathology. As well as where neurofeedback therapy fits in as an adjunct to psychotherapy in treat those disorders.
We also talk extensively about ADHD, traumatic brain injury, and brain health.
And, of particular excitement to you psychedelic-enthusiasts out there, we talk about psychedelic-informed neurofeedback. (Which is basically like using neurofeedback to encourage your brain to enter psychedelic-like states.)

This episode is chock full of very specific information about pharmacology. Get your notepad ready.

We also talk about how the dismantling of racism is actively harmed by the politics of outrage being carried into our personal relationships, and how getting beyond racism as a society can only truly come about in a cultural context based on the sacredness of the individual.

We also discuss modern Western culture's crisis of meaning, the dissolution of trust in institutions, "the internet of beefs", and the challenge of sensemaking in our modern technological landscape.

Episode BreakdownWe feature two anonymous guests on today's episode to talk about applying psychedelics to somatic relational therapy. One of whom is a practicing underground therapist. The other is not a therapist or doing therapy, but a social worker and researcher specializing in somatic healing, interpersonal neurobiology, and psychedelic therapy.
This is a radically different approach to the psychedelic-assisted therapy you are likely aware of--headphones, eye shades, therapist there to hold a hand if needed. This is a therapy that is fully interactive and engaged.

PSILOCYBIN AND COMPASSION ARE BOTH LINKED TO OUR ABILITY TO FEEL EMOTIONAL PAIN AS IT ARISES
By examining this correlation from a trauma-informed, psychotherapeutic framework, we find an understanding of emotional healing and healthy emotional processes, with or without psilocybin on board.
This lecture will explore the essence of compassion and how a lack of it is related to early childhood trauma and emotional repression. Furthermore, it will explore the potential of psilocybin in the resolution of emotional trauma and the cultivation of healthier relationships, as well as the potential of suffering as a necessary skill for being an adult. (p.s. please be aware that there is quite a bit more cursing in this episode than normal.)

How do we access them? How do they relate to our ability to access pleasure, multiple orgasms, and a profound sense of intimacy with ourselves and with others? What do we need to watch out for on our journey of awakening to these heightened sexual experiences in order to stay safe in ourselves and avoid accidentally hurting others? And, what roles do our psychedelic experiences serve in this sexual awakening?
We welcome Miriam Elyse to Adventures Through The Mind to explore these questions and more.
