Adventures Through The Mind

Hey Y'all 3 things need to be shared as they may/do effect the future of the podcast.

1. The potential of being delisted from iTunes (and what you can do about it to prevent losing access to the show)
2. Issues around YouTube algorithms and secret ratings that are blocking the podcast's growth
3. The inclusion of a sponsor for the podcast, FORMULA and what it means for the future of the show

Each of these issues are explained in this 10min update (in a soft, early morning radio voice).

Regardless of whether or not you listen, the most important take away is to please sign up for my newsletter to ensure that you won't be negatively affected by the (unwanted) potential delisting/deletion of the podcast in the future. Sign Up For The Newsletter: https://landing.mailerlite.com/webforms/landing/w0f8s4 ***I release newsletters about once a month or less. So don't worry about it filling up your inbox ;) THANK YOU!!!

"Breaking Convention is a biennial multidisciplinary conference on psychedelic consciousness, featuring more than 200 presenters from around the world." It takes place in London, England and is one of the largest psychedelic conferences in the world.

I was quasi-invited to speak (I was invited by a program curator, but wasn't an officially invited speaker) there this year. I decided I would try and harvest the opportunity to be amongst so many luminaries in the psychedelic field by catching as many short interviews as I could in my time there. I got 11. (also, my talk was recorded and they will eventually release it. Also, I do have a transcript that will also be released soon-ish)

Similar to what I did at OZORA Festival for ATTMind 100, I asked them all the same 4 questions:

1. Who are you and what do you do?
2. What is the most relevant consideration you are holding at this conference?
3. What role do you see yourself playing in the psychedelic renaissance?
4. What role, if any, do you see psychedelics playing in helping humanity respond to any of the many crises we are facing?

There are some nuances to each of these questions that are presented in the (quite long intro). If you would like to breeze through the intro, relevant bits are between 4:25 and 10:110, with the actual interviews starting at 11:55. Of course, please make an effort to watch/listen to the full intro if you are open to it (especially watch it cause I made something special in the intro just for this episode 😉 )

We welcome Maria Papaspyrou to the show to discuss what Jungian Psychology has to say psychedelics in general and psychedelic integration in particular.

Maria is an integrative psychotherapist and systemic constellations facilitator in private practice in Brighton, UK. She has given talks and published articles on the sacramental and healing properties of entheogens, supporting their re-introduction in psychotherapy. She is co-editor "Psychedelic Mysteries of the Feminine", and is developing T.R.I.P.P. network, a U.K. wide psychedelic psychotherapy integration database.

This post contains a discussion on suicide, psychosis, and abuse of power. It might be best to look at it at another time if you are not in the headspace to explore those topics right now.

***

As many of you heard in my intro to episode 102 with Are Thoresen, kambo facilitator and former guest on the show, Tobias [last name removed on request of the family] died on July 11, 2019.

I mentioned in that intro that the context around his death was bizarre and that I would make a statement about it. I made a video about it, this is the audio track.

More details and content here

~{TL/DR: Tobias killed himself during a psychotic episode that was most likely brought on by, primarily, the excessive (daily) use of Bufo/5-MeO-DMT. This video discusses the context that led to and surrounds his suicide and why it's relevant to us as a psychedelic culture.}~

Comedian Shane Mauss is on the show to talk about the context that led up to his drug-induced psychosis, his time in a psychiatric institution, and why he still sees psychedelics as valuable tools for mental wellness in general, but comedy culture in particular.

This episode seeks to explore the phenomenon of spiritual forces, demons, and disease. But not so much from the "are spirits real?" perspective but from the position of assuming they are real and thus an exploration of what are they and how they operate on the human being.

For this exploration, we welcome Are Thoresen, a veterinarian, acupuncturist, and scholar of anthroposophy. Are is also recognized as an expert in spirit entities and demonic possession, with a particular focus on their role in illness and healing.

(...FULL EPISODE BREAKDOWN BELOW...)

Of course, the ongoing skepticism of the "realness" of all this is present throughout this discussion as I, your host and interviewer, am not sold on the whole thing. At least not in the beginning, my heavy skepticism waning towards responsible ambivalence by the end of it all.

*** That said, I invite people to please keep their higher reasoning intact fo this interview as, real or not, getting obsessed with the presences of "demonic forces" and "battles between good an evil" can take us down dangerous roads psychologically. ***

To acknowledge the celebratory context of this epsiode I had done two things special with it. The first is that I took a pretty long time, in the beginning, to talk about my journey with the podcast (the actual episode starts 12:45, and the interviews at 18:00). Then, the second special thing, instead of one guest, or even two, or even three, there are EIGHT GUESTS!!!! That's right. 8 Guests.

I recorded several short, on location interviews during my travel through Europe in the summer of 2018. Most of them we shot at OZORA FESTIVAL, in Hungary. I had the amazing opportunity to be surrounded by the amazing psychedelic thinkers and researchers and I took that opportunity to ask them some questions. Three questions in fact.

THE 3 QUESTIONS

• What do you feel is the best use of psychedelics at this time?
• What does the psychedelic experience show us about what it means to die?
• What is an area in psychedelic culture that is important but under-represented in the major discourse?

THE 8 GUESTS

(In alphabetical order. head to https://bit.ly/ATTMind100 for further links to their work)

• Julian Vayne
• Nikki Wyrd
• Kilindi Iyi
• Marta Kaczmarczyk
• Meriana Dinkova
• Moudou Baqui
• Leor Roseman
• Rosalind Watts

I will let them introduce themselves during the episode, and the structure of the episode be explained in the intro.

Thanks for 100 episodes!

Enjoy.
