Happy hour this week we head down to southwestern Minnesota to talk to Steven Regan. You can tell immediately through our conversation that Steven is passionate for what he does as a technical seed agronomist for Bayer's Dekalb/Asgrow brand and have a great happy hour with him.
Most notably you may know Steven from the SnapChat handle he has (DEKALB/Asgrow MNWEST) and his great updates, especially on Thirsty Thursdays.
Horseweed, Mares Tail, or Fleabane: whatever you call it, it can be a real pain in the you know what to control in no-till & minimum till situations. So we felt it appropriate to bring this question back from June in the AGvisorPRO app back during harvest time because the best control measure for this weed is a good fall burndown. We lay out our preferred strategy, from fall burndown to in-crop next year how to manage this weed in wheat.

It is a real treat to talk about the FFA and this holds especially true this week when we spent happy hour with David Swanson. David is entering his 37th year as an agriculture teacher and an FFA advisor in Hawley Minnesota. 37 years is a long time and David shares his story and his passion why teaching and the FFA have been so important to him. We really think you all will enjoy listening to him sharing his experiences.
David's devotion to the FFA has not gone unnoticed and was inducted into the Minnesota FFA hall of fame this year. Find more on that HERE
How to determine the correct time to swath canola was the question the came up on the AGvisorPRO app this week. And we felt it appropriate to make the small delineation between timing for swathing and for pre-harvest desiccant.

What grinds your gears?.....but more in an agronomic sense. We cover a short list of things that bothered us this season: flea beetles, herbicide efficacy, poor communication, and regenerative ag....just to name a few.
Will high soil test phosphate antagonize other nutrients in the soil, how do you know if that will happen and how do you overcome it? That's the question we tackle from AGvisorPRO this week.

Happy hour this week takes us up to Lethbridge, Alberta. Where we find Charles Geddes, a weed scientist for Agriculture and Agri-Foods Canada, who's most troublesome weed happens to be OUR most troublesome weed....kochia. Charles shares insight to the resistance screening that they are working on, and what they have learned over time with kochia populations. Charles also shares insights on what he has learned about kochia biology and other management studies that they have performed that can help all of us out when it comes to managing everyone's favorite tumbleweed.....
Find Charles on Twitter at @charlesmgeddes to follow along!
There are LL volunteer canola (an likely RR) in Xtend soybeans that have not been controlled. What are the options to spray them out? A great question asked on the AGvisorPRO app this past week.

Happy hour takes us all the way east to North Carolina to talk to Josh Joyner. We have a ton of fun talking to Josh and learning about North Carolina agriculture. The crops may be similar to other regions; but the field sizes, soils, and climate all differ and make for a great conversation as we learn what its like there.
