On this weeks episode for season 2 of my podcast, I'm joined with Ellie Moncrieff, my 19 year old sister. We're very alike in a lot of ways but polar opposites at the same time. We compare and contrast our social night lives, drunken mess stories and how we view alcohol. We gave our opinions on whether Irish peoples relationship to alcohol is perpetuating our high cases of poor mental health or if we're running to alcohol as our only viable solution.
In particular we hone in on a poster that has been circulating on social media which reads 'alcohol is the biggest rape drug'. We discuss the prevalence of victim blaming and the misconceptions surrounding consent.
With the closing of clubs such as Hangar and District 8, my night life as a 22 year old has definitely changed since I first started going out. The 'Give Us The Night' campaign has since started to combat issues such as club closures, late night licensing in support of Ireland's night time economy.
