Growing up in regional Victoria, Australia in a beef farming family, Alison Meagher (I: @butcher.girl.alison) has always been passionate about meat. Working alongside many world-renowned butchers, Alison channels this passion and knowledge to the Australian meat industry. Having creative love for all food and cooking meant eventually, those two worlds had to collide.
She has been involved in the industry for nearly 20 years, and it all began with my Bachelor of Applied Science (Food Styling) from RMIT University Melbourne. Heading off to London, Alison worked in a 150-year-old traditional butcher shop in Holland Park. She then went to Shanghai, China, for six years to become the Promotions and Training Manager for Australian Beef in Asia. She has recently completed Certificate IV in Training and Assessment / Industry Presenter for any extra touch of experience in media opportunities. Bringing butchery back to the world is what Alison is all about! As well as getting more women involved in this amazing industry, promoting nose-to-tail eating and those long forgotten secondary cuts.
