An unthinkable story unfolding in the Northeast this week. According to police, 49-year-old Jeanette MacAusland admitted to strangling her 6 and 7 year old children. MacAusland reportedly tried and failed to kill herself afterwards, instead she drove 3 hours to a relative’s home, where police say she confessed to the crime. MacAusland is in the middle of a divorce and custody battle, but nothing about the situation pointed to this violet ending. In fact, MacAusland is described by friends and neighbors as a loving mother who they never believed could be capable of such a horrific crime.

The Trump administration is reportedly planning to review ABC owned stations broadcast licenses, even though they’re years away from being up for renewal. It’s widely believed this is in direct retaliation for Jimmy Kimmel’s late night joke saying Melania Trump was glowing like an “expectant widow.” White House spokesman Steven Cheung went so far as to post on X that Kimmel is a “sh*t human being” who should be shunned for the rest of his life.

King Charles and Queen Camilla have arrived in the U.S. to celebrate our country’s independence from Great Britain 250 years ago, at a time of deep political divisions in this country, with political violence dominating the headlines.  Today, the King will be the second monarch in history to address a joint session of Congress, his mother, Queen Elizabeth, was the first. King Charles remarks will come after a private, bilateral meeting with Trump at the Oval Office without a presser afterwards. Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel maintained he was making an “age gap” joke about Melania Trump looking like an “expectant widow.” Kimmel’s joke was days before a third attempt was made on President Trump’s life at the WHCD and while some have said it was distasteful, others maintain it was dangerous, even suggesting it could encourage violence against the President. ABC has remained silent around the controversy.

Top DOJ officials just wrapped a news conference following the arraignment of alleged shooter, 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen. Allen is charged with the attempted assassination of President Trump in addition to firearms charges, including discharging a firearm during a crime of violence.  More charges are coming his way, but acting Attorney General Todd Blanche couldn’t say whose bullet hit the secret service agent wearing his bulletproof vest, or exactly how Allen was brought to the ground before being arrested.

The First Lady called Jimmy Kimmel a “coward” on X after what she calls his hateful and violent rhetoric. Kimmel made a joke before the White House Correspondents’ dinner where he said Melania was beautiful, like “an expectant widow.” The first lady called on ABC to take a stand and to stop protecting the late night comedian. As of this recording, there is no official response from the Disney owned network, as calls to boycott ABC grow louder on social media.

Dive teams on Sunday found human remains believed to be 27-year-old University of South Florida student Nahida Bristy. The body of her friend Zamil Limon was discovered two days earlier, Limon’s roommate is now under arrest, charged with both of their murders. We are learning about the mounting evidence prosecutors have against 26-year-old Hisham Abugharbieh, including his Chat GPT questions. Meantime the families of Limon and Bristy are speaking out and demanding justice.

President Trump sat down with 60 minutes less than 24 hours after a gunman tried to storm the White House Correspondents Dinner this weekend. Trump got testy when Norah O’Donnell read part of the gunman’s manifesto that explained his reasoning for trying to kill Trump administration officials, which included a reference to a “pedophile, rapist and traitor.” The President also described the moments he and the fist Lady were whisked off the stage and praised his security team for their quick actions.
