18 years after the kidnapping, rape and murder of a young mother, 54-year-old Michael King died by lethal injection this week. The brutal murder of 21-year-old Denise Amber Lee led to nationwide 9-1-1 reform, as she begged for her life for 6 minutes to dispatchers who somehow never got help to her in time, despite 3 other 9-1-1 calls. The execution chamber was packed with Denise’s family, who had a lot to say after listening to King’s final words, and watching him take his final breaths.

31-year-old Alexia Moore is behind bars charged with felony murder, after going to the hospital in pain, admitting to staff she took online abortion pills to end her pregnancy. Georgia law bans most abortions after 6 weeks, but police say Moore was between 22 and 24 weeks pregnant when she took the pills that are only meant to be taken to terminate pregnancies of 10 weeks or less. The details of this case are tough to hear, but Moore wound up giving birth to the baby girl in the hospital, who died an hour later. Now the DA must decide whether to prosecute Moore, which would make this the first time a woman would face murder charges for an abortion in the state of Georgia.

Statements are flying and fingers are pointing everywhere in the fallout of the cancellation of Season 22 of “The Bachelorette.”  NBC is reporting on an alleged zoom call earlier this month where a Disney executive said he didn’t want to know too much about Taylor Frankie Paul’s behavior.  Also Paul’s ex has released multiple statements refuting Paul’s new accusation that she has been suffering in silence from his mental and physical abuse.  Dakota Mortensen categorically denied her claims and filed a restraining order against Paul on Thursday.

95-year-old Dolores Huerta waited 60 years to finally tell her story of sexual abuse by once beloved labor rights leader Cesar Chavez. Word came down that Disney  was cancelling the highly hyped and anticipated new season of the Bachelorette just as we were recording the fallout from newly leaked video of Taylor Frankie Paul attacking her ex.  The disturbing video is from the 2023 domestic violence incident between Paul and Dakota Mortenson, where Paul pleaded guilty to aggravated assault.   Once you hear the audio of her then 5 year old daughter crying in pain when she’s hit with a metal barstool thrown by Paul, it is clear Disney had no choice but to cancel the entire season.
