Should pastors be allowed to plagiarize in their sermons?
I’ll be frank: I think evangelicalism has a problem with celebrity, as we talked about on last week’s podcast. And I think plagiarism is part of that celebrity. It’s rampant among pastors and authors in evangelicalism, and it allows people to give a false sense of themselves to others to boost their status. It needs to stop.

Josh Howerton sermon where he says arguing with him is like arguing with God

Note: The sermon we're referring to I originally saw because it was listed on this page. That sermon has since been removed. It is the only sermon from 2022 that can no longer be found on the Lakepointe Church site, on YouTube, and on their podcast archives. It was there a few weeks ago; it's now gone. I have no idea why, unless he got wind of what we were doing (some people did know, and there have been "breadcrumbs" in the last few podcasts). I hope to see a public statement from Lakepointe and Josh Howerton apologizing for plagiarism, and saying this is why they took the sermon down. If so, I will let you all know and read it out to you!

Evangelicalism has a problem with celebrity culture.
I mean, everyone has a problem with celebrity culture. But it can be worse in the church because we’re supposed to put Jesus front and centre, and too oten we’re protecting celebrity and ignoring the way of Christ.

One of the most frequent questions I’ve had since The Great Sex Rescue was published has been: “Have any of the authors responded to your critiques?”
People want to know–has anyone owned their mistakes and made changes?
And the quick answer is no.
I wanted to have a central place where I can show you what the authors who HAVE said something have said.
And I need to say something.
This is a personal podcast.

Time for another hero of the faith! Well, three, actually!
This month we’re telling amazing stories of women that God used in history to fight against injustice and show that God values women. This week Kristin Kobes Du Mez, the author of Jesus and John Wayne, joins us to talk about her biography of Katharine Bushnell.
