The name "Ted Nugent" evokes a host of responses from different people. Ted is an iconic rock-and-roll legend and outspoken political pundit, but in the hunting community we know him as "Uncle Ted." He's been the most outspoken hunter on the mainstream American stage for the longest period of time. Early on, Ted brought a new energy, life and zeal into the hunting world along with a positive narrative unlike anything we'd ever heard. Ted is also a controversial figure in many spheres for various reasons, which he addresses in this conversation. On three different occasions Ted plays the guitar for host, Clay Newcomb, including his legendary song, Fred Bear, at the end of the podcast. Clay and Ted discuss the threats to modern hunting, Ted's hunting roots, staying clean and sober for 72 years, poaching, and high fence hunting. Keith "Catfish" Sutton is a nationally known outdoor fishing and hunting writer and book author from Arkansas. He's written five books on catfishing, worked for ESPN for 10 years, and traveled the world fishing as a freelance writer. Keith is known as one of the country's top catfishermen. Keith has spent a lot of time fishing the Amazon River in Brazil and some of his stories are amazing, including catching the world record ray. He was the first person since the 1800s to catch and document the fish. Keith tells some incredible stories of being involved in a shootout with some Mexican "banditos" and you'll cringe when you hear his story of being mauled by a bison. This is a storyteller's podcast and you'll be enriched by learning about Keith's life of growing up on the lower White River in Arkansas. And you'll pick up some tips on catfishing! This is a really good podcast. Keith is a very neat guy.

Jonathan Wilkins of Black Duck Revival and Clay Newcomb have a discussion about the history of African American hunting in the South, but more importantly, they discuss the historical issues that have led to low participation of African Americans in modern hunting. The discussion flows into racism, its roots, the roots of racism in modern hunting and Jonathan gives insightful commentary on race issues in general. The discussion is framed around a book called "Hunting and Fishing in the New South" by Scott Giltner, which is an incredible book that every outdoors person should read.

Rick Spicer visited the Bear Hunting Magazine Global Headquarters to have a discussion about the outdoors.  Rick is an avid outdoorsman and part owner of Pack Rat Outdoor Center in Fayetteville, AR.  He cut his teeth on mountaineering and talks about some of his adventures along with bushcraft and primitive hunting.  We also talk about bridging the gap between non-hunting outdoorsmen and hunters.  Part of guarding the gate is opening the gate.
