It’s time for The Apple Seed! Filled with stories for you and your family. Since 2013 we’ve been bringing you tall tales, personal tales, fairy tales, historical tales and more. All kinds of tales, from all kinds of tellers. Today we’ll start with “Blonde, Beautiful and Bubbly,” a family story by Martha Reed Johnson about growing up with a practically perfect younger sister. We’ll hear John McCutcheon retell the old folk tale of John Henry, the American folk hero who went up against a modern steam drill, and how that story impacted John McCutcheon at a young age. Finally we’ll get to hear Japanese storyteller Motoko tell the story of her son’s first experience with being bullied and left out. All stories about family, growing up, and learning about ourselves.
