“Do less to make more” is Amy Porterfield’s mantra, and for good reason: Her success has been gained through her focus on doing just a few things really well, and sharing that knowledge with others. But entrepreneurship hasn’t always come so easily to her. The Orange County, California,-born author and digital marketer began her journey 14 years ago, after leaving her job as content director for Tony Robbins. During a focus group which she was attending as a note-taker, she heard the assembled business owners talking about the freedom they felt in their jobs, and realized that she had never felt the same. A year later, she left the company, intent on building her own business.
The journey wasn’t without its trials. She had never had to build a business before, let alone worry about the necessary minutia. Her book, Two Weeks Notice, was born from this struggle. A step-by-step guide to solving and overcoming every challenge she faced, it is the book Porterfield wishes she’d had when her entrepreneurial journey began, written with the intention to help others struggling on or unaware of the same path traverse its many trials.
Now, Porterfield and Brilliant Thoughts host Tristan Ahumada discuss the necessity of putting out weekly content, how to build an email list and Porterfield’s tips for developing digital courses.
