Mike Salk and Shannon Drayer reflect on Scott Servais' tenure and legacy. Then, we take your calls on the M's decision to part ways with their manager and hire Dan Wilson to take over.
Shannon Drayer joins the show in studio to analyze everything from the firing of Scott Servais and the hiring of Dan Wilson. Then ESPN's Jeff Passan joins the show to give his perspective on all of the news as well. Salk and Shannon also dissect why Dan Wilson was immediately named the new Mariners manager going forward, rather than being named the interim manager for the remainder of the year.
Salk was not happy about how the situation of the Scott Servais firing was handled, including the Jerry Dipoto interview with Ken Rosenthal the day before. He then welcomes on Michael Bennett to discuss his time in broadcasting so far, the state of the Seahawks, what he likes about Mike Macdonald and some of the players that have stood out to him so far in the preseason. Brady Henderson of ESPN joins the show for Blue 88, with topics that include if any other trades will occur, the starters playing in Saturday's preseason game and the possibility of a Geno Smith extension before the start of the regular season.
Salk reacts to the news of the Mariners firing Scott Servais, detailing that there are many layers to it all. He then takes your calls to hear everyone else's thoughts on the news of Servais being let go.
Salk doesn't think the M's are where they are because they didn't spend money, he thinks they just didn't spend their money correctly. Brock and Lyle have some counterpoints. Then, we bring back an old favorite....Answer the Question Jerk!
Brock and Salk open the hour with another round of listener voicemails for "Here's The Thing". They then return to the Scott Servais discussion and if the Mariners lack of spending is really the issue behind not winning as much as they could be.
Jerry Dipoto did an interview with Ken Rosenthal yesterday and there were certainly some quotes to take away. Brock and Salk discuss. Brock then hosts trivia with callers for another Madden Code giveaway. In Blue 88, they dive in on Bo Nix, standout Seahawks rookies and Mike Macdonald.
The Mariners had a nightmare 1-8 road trip. Is Scott Seravis on the hot seat? Salk shares his opinion on all of it to open the show. They then replay their conversation with Chris Peterson where he discuss the state of the Huskies, Seahawks, college football in general and much more.
We answer questions of whose shoes you would rather in involving Dan Lanning, Jedd Fisch,Riq Woolen, Devon Witherspoon and more in 'Whose Shoes?'. Then, legendary broadcaster Chris Berman joins the show to discuss his career and what he saw at Seahawks camp. Plus, Justin couldn't stay away. He makes a special appearance for a shiny new Ranked.
The Mariners started the road trip in contention and are finishing the road trip nearly out of contention. To do that is not easy. Brock and Salk talk about. They later welcome on former UW Football head coach Chris Peterson to discuss the current state of college football, the current Washington football program and much more.
