Brock and Salk discuss back and forth on what they saw in last night's Mariners loss and why the results continue to be what they do. They then have an epic Seahawks trivia segment with two callers who battled it out for one of Brock's Madden Codes. In Blue 88, they dive in on simplifying offenses in the NFL, the Seahawks offense and which team from 2023 does the 2024 Seahawks remind him of.
The Mariners road trip has been an absolute disaster and Salk has some thoughts on it. He also does not think Scott Servais is to blame. Later, they revisit their interview with Jeff Passan to get his take on the state of the Mariners and what things could look like for them moving forward.
Jeff Passan says he wouldn't fire anyone in the front office and doesn't really think letting Servais go would be the answer but it might be getting to the point where it's a possibility. Brock and Salk say they are just running out of levers to pull if things keep going in this direction. Then, we take your calls on what the M's should do about their struggles.
Maura takes everyone around the NFL with stories from Tua Tagovailoa, Michael Penix, Dennis Allen and Daniel Jones. They then welcome on ESPN's Jeff Passan to get his insight on the state of the Mariners, what they should do going forward, and his evaluation of the offense.
Brock and Salk discuss what the next two games against the Dodgers mean for the Mariners and what might happen if the pair of contests are unsuccessful. They then dive in on how Mike Macdonald has a chance to mix in a fun team culture while still being extremely detail oriented and what that can do for him if he succeeds. In Blue 88, they look at Mike Macdonald, the biggest goal for the Seahawks in 2024, and some of the UW rookies in NFL camps so far.
Salk opens up the show by talking about another devestating Mariners loss, and how we have seen the version of yesterday's game in some iteration far too many times now. They then replay the Charles Davis interview and hear his takeaways from the Seahawks-Titans preseason game as he was on the Titans broadcast for it.
We discuss what we liked about Julio Rodriguez's fire and accountability post game on Saturday. Then, we dig into some of Charles Davis' comments about JSN being utilized differently in Ryan Grubb's offense and this defense being built back to front. Plus, Lyle ranks his favorite Brock and Salk show moments after saying that he "grew up" listening to this show last week.
Brock and Salk begin the hour by diving into Geno Smith taking down all of his Instagram posts, which could be a sign of frustration at the Seahawks. They then discuss if re-working his contract makes sense moving forward. They later welcome on Charles Davis of CBS who was on the Titans broadcast for Saturday's Seahawks preseason game to get some of his insight from the matchup.
Salk opens the show by discussing what was another grueling series for the Mariners, this time in Pittsburgh, along with more on the conversation regarding Mike Macdonald's key attention to details after the Seahawks second preseason game. Later, Maura takes everyone around the weekend with notes from the Seahawks, Mariners and NFL.
