We're only a few days away from the first M's game in decades and Salk asks Brock what he's most looking forward to see on Friday. Brock highlights Julio as a major point of why this team is in the playoffs and gets into a conversation about how the rookies' ignorance is bliss on their lack of playoff experience. Salk opens the phones for Mariners fans to express all their hopes & dreams by sharing their feelings ahead of Friday's game.

The Sam Haggerty news continues to bring down Salk and he explains further why it's such a big deal by citing the Dave Roberts steal in game 4 of the 2004 ALCS. With Haggerty out of the lineup, that type of potential is also removed. With the first playoff berth in forever we decide to come up with slogans the team could use in October before Brock answers three football questions in Blue 88: What is one encouraging sign defense, what is the one thing a rookie MLB’er and NFL’er share in common, and why are the Seahawks so good on 3rd down Denver so bad?

Salk had a whole day planned to talk about the Mariners but Sam Haggerty getting hurt sliding into 2nd base in the 9th ruined his night because Haggerty is an impact player who can provide a major spark to a team. We revisit the conversation on the Pete Carroll Show to hear his thoughts on if Geno fits Waldron's system better than Russ, his impressions on the defensive struggles and an explanation to his frustrating challenge flag decisions.

Brock and Salk discuss Scott Servais being the clear choice for AL manager of the year after Friday's win and the Orioles continuing to spiral. Then, Pete Carroll joins the show to discuss Geno Smith's impressive performance, Rashaad Penny's explosiveness, the defensive struggles, Tariq Woolen's big pick six, and why he stands by the challenge flags he threw.

The poetic nature of Rick Rizzs calling the biggest moment of the Mariners in recent memory was made so much better by the picture he painted in the moment so we listen to the inning one more time. Geno Smith's numbers have been... staggering. Really, really good. And we're not sure if that should require an apology from the "QB Aficionado" Salk himself. Lots of Takeaways from this game but Salk is thrilled by Penny's performance and Tariq Woolen's pick-6, but there's still a lot left to be desired by the defense.

As great and poetic as the Mariners clinching was, Salk asks the question - who or what is the main reason for this playoff push? Salk has 5 reasons: Pitching, Youth, Julio, Culture, and the playoff expansion has to be included. We go over some of the celebration moments and discuss how funny/interesting it was to see a beer bong in the clubhouse. Should we be apologizing for thinking Geno Smith would be terrible?? Brock's Blue 88 covers the underrated difference maker for the Hawks offense, best part of Waldron’s gameplan and what happened to the Huskies on Friday?

The days of "same old Mariners" are gone as the M's clinch their first playoff berth since 2001 and everybody is absolutely thrilled that it happened the way it did and decide to re-live the experience with Justin who was in the stadium Friday night. The Seahawks also got a win in Detroit behind a scorigami of 48-45 as Geno Smith put up great numbers. Unfortunately we can't say the same for the defense.

Joe Fann is among the throngs of Mariners fans who cannot wait to celebrate with the rest of Seattle when the drought ends, but it hasn't happened yet. Gee Scott (Gee & Ursula, 97.3 KIRO) joins Salk for his weekly appearance to discuss the changes the Seahawks are going to make on Sunday vs the Lions and double-down on his wild playoff prediction for the Mariners.

It was an incredibly emotional night at the ballpark but Salk says the M's winning the game was the 3rd most important thing that happened last night behind Mitch Haniger and Jarred Kelenic both going yard twice. A close third place was the M's playing clean-ish in the field and not giving away outs. One person who is really excited about the potential end of the drought is Mariners Insider Shannon Drayer who shares her insights from last night's game. Salk shares us some "Post-season 101" tips for those of us who have never experienced playoff baseball.
