这个城市的天空一如既往的湛蓝湛蓝，办公室窗外的蝉鸣，粉碎着 这一片稀薄的宁静。静静地思考和品尝着这纷扰的噪音，品味着早 上微信上的凡人哲语，突然想起，中华人民共和国广东省湛江市荣 誉市民加拿大公民，广东海洋大学外籍教师芭芭拉女士，本月27号 就要回国做康复治疗了。昨日下午校方领导和相关部门领导共聚某 会议室，为芭芭拉举行了欢送茶话会。芭芭拉为了表示感谢，也做 了一番情真意切的演讲致辞。今天的电台节目就给大家奉上芭芭拉 女士的感谢致辞。并感谢郭晓珊同学不辞辛苦，第一时间把芭芭拉 致辞文稿打成电子 版发送给我。下面就请关心芭芭拉女士的领导老 师和孩子们一起感受并感悟芭芭拉真切的心声。

Dear President…

When I was hired as a teacher, more than twenty years ago, by GDOU ,my life long dream to live in China and immerse myself on its culture became true. I was overjoyed, but little did I know that these years would become the happiest of my life.

Not only did my love for the Chinese people and their culture grow, but I was made to feel welcome and accepted beyond my dreams. Teaching, having contact with my students, past and present, became the rewarding center of my life.

The university has always been like family to me. Never more so, than during my serious illness and recovery. I would not be standing here, with a full and grateful heart, trying to express my deepest gratitude, but for the unwavering support, on all levels, from the university, its administration, its faculty and my beloved students.

I do not remember, but was told, how Carrie Yang was the first of many to safe my life. She was the one who called the ambulance after I phoned her to cancel my classes because of a severe headache.

I was told that the university at once made all the arrangements so that I would receive the best of medical care available anywhere. Until my family arrived, there was the university, being family, having students on the ready, 24 hours a day in front of the ICU to help with whatever was required. The university, coordinated with my dear and loyal friends to provide home cooked meals as long as I was able to eat.

My family tells me of the important role played by the numerous visits to my bedside from the presidents, past ad present, the foreign office, faculty and students. I might not remember ,but from my family I know, that these visits calmed my anxiety, made me very happy and ,as long as I could, I would express my pleasure, if only with a smile.

Since I woke up, I have often been moved to tears by the outpouring of love and support. To this has been added the incredible generous support and now the knowledge that I will be allowed to be part of the GDOU forever. The university that already has done so much for me! I can only say it feels wonderfully like floating in my mother’s palm.

A few days ago, I was given a beautiful scroll of Chinese calligraphy by the mother of a dear friend of mine- 100 different characters expressing health and longevity. I wish there were a scroll with one thousand characters, each giving heartfelt thanks and deep gratitude for unbelievable kindness received. I would have liked to give such a scroll to each and every one of you, who have shown such kindness toward me.

My eyes fill with tears when I think of what you have done for me and there will not be a day in my life when I not feel overwhelmingly grateful for all I have received in love and kindness and support and now -- commitment providing so generously for my retirement.

I feel deeply honored.

湛江是个美丽的地方，虽然由于近期的酷暑难耐，有人抱怨说不是广东亲生的，其实，对于那些每天都浸泡在雨水里的广州和深圳的朋友们来说，又何尝不是一种煎熬。湛江除了比较潮湿以外，于我来说，是一个比较理想的居住地。我这个2001年来的北方捞仔，也越来越喜欢这个美丽的湛江了。而对于那些生于斯，长于斯的人们，对家乡更是充满浓浓的挚爱和眷恋。

家乡的海滩啊，

我的摇篮，

当我的心在月光中泅渡，

才敢径直地想你，

因你缠绵着我。

当我进入了梦乡，

才敢忘情的吻你，

因你藏着

我的诗,

我的爱,

还有童话般的心愿。

当我迈着青春的步履，

仍追忆那一汪碧波荡漾，

啊，海潮退了，

你露出雪白的脸庞，

赶海的人群笑了，

收鱼网, 捉鱼虾。

顶星星,踏落霞,

汗水饥肠伴着破衣裳,

偷窥母亲那企盼的目光,

还有岸边那励我前行的仙人掌!

当我的理想插上翅膀,

你那惊涛拍岸的力量,

激励我随着海鸥飞翔,

追求心中的梦想!

啊！家乡的海滩,

你哺育我成长,

给我锦绣情怀；

你滋养了家乡人民,

湛江是个美丽的地方，虽然由于近期的酷暑难耐，有人抱怨说不是广东亲生的，其实，对于那些每天都浸泡在雨水里的广州和深圳的朋友们来说，又何尝不是一种煎熬。湛江除了比较潮湿以外，于我来说，是一个比较理想的居住地。我这个2001年来的北方捞仔，也越来越喜欢这个美丽的湛江了。而对于那些生于斯，长于斯的人们，对家乡更是充满浓浓的挚爱和眷恋。

家乡的海滩啊，

我的摇篮，

当我的心在月光中泅渡，

Love

I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you.

No man or woman is worth your tears, and the one who is, won't make you cry.

The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside them knowing you can't have them.

Never frown, even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in love with your smile.

To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.

Don't waste your time on a man/woman, who isn't willing to waste their time on you.

Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to,

doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

Don't try so hard, the best things come when you least expect them to.

Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one,

so that when we finally meet the person, we will know how to be grateful.

Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened.

爱情

我爱你，不是因为你是一个怎样的人，而是因为我喜欢与你在一起时的感觉。

没有人值得你流泪，值得让你这么做的人不会让你哭泣。

失去某人，最糟糕的莫过于，他近在身旁，却犹如远在天边。

纵然伤心，也不要愁眉不展，因为你不知是谁会爱上你的笑容。

对于世界而言，你是一个人；但是对于某个人，你是他的整个世界。

不要为那些不愿在你身上花费时间的人而浪费你的时间。

爱你的人如果没有按你所希望的方式来爱你，那并不代表他们没有全心全意地爱你。

不要着急，最好的总会在最不经意的时候出现。

在遇到梦中人之前，上天也许会安排我们先遇到别的人；在我们终于遇见心仪的人时，便应当心存感激。

不要因为结束而哭泣，微笑吧，为你的曾经拥有。
