In honor of the Navy’s 250th birthday—and her dad’s birthday, both celebrated today, October 13th—Kellie is sharing one of her most special and popular Navy episodes from her previous show, MissUnderstood, as part of a special edition of Why Not Do Both Podcast: Navy Week!

Recorded back in 2020, this episode (EP. 18) features Kellie’s father, now Captain (Ret.) Billy F. Hall Jr., U.S. Navy, who had just been selected for Captain at the time.

Captain Hall shares his remarkable journey from enlisting as a Seaman Recruit (E-1) in 1990 to being selected as a Captain (O-6), a rare and extraordinary accomplishment that speaks to decades of persistence, leadership, and learning how to “squeeze the Navy of its opportunities.”

Originally released as a Father’s Day episode, this conversation remains one of the most inspiring mentorship moments in Kellie’s podcasting history, a heartfelt exchange between father and daughter, sailor to sailor.
