How are you doing? Like really doing?

I don’t know about you, but I was in need of a break. I’m not one to sit still for very long and that hasn’t always served me well but I’m learning to honor what my body needs and this week, that’s giving myself a break. So this episode will be short and sweet. But there’s stil a message in there for you.

Our world rewards productivity and taking breaks often feels like a luxury if you even allow yourself to take one, but it shouldn’t. If you have ever pushed yourself to the point of exhaustion or tied your worth to your achievements or to-do list, it’s time to take a look at that mindset. Trying to keep that pace will only leave you drained and disconnected from what truly matters. Take it from someone who has learned the hard way!

So when my plan for this episode took a turn, I looked at is as a sign to take a break and I’m encouraging you to do the same. 

And Mother’s Day weekend is upon us so what better time to focus on the importance of slowing down, rejuvenating ourselves, and nurturing our relationships not our to-do lists.

Have you ever felt overwhelmed or disrespected? Maybe you got mad at someone for something they did and were offended.  If you’ve ever experienced any of the above, you may need stronger boundaries in your life.

Setting healthy boundaries isn't always easy. You may be afraid of hurting other people’s feelings, fear the repercussions of standing up for what’s important to you, have FOMO, or it didn't feel safe in your childhood to express yourself so you stopped speaking up. Not having healthy boundaries can lead to stress, burnout, and damaged and failed relationships.

Female relationships are the lifeline for most women, yet sometimes they can be hard to cultivate. Between raising kids, working, and caring for family members it can leave little time for our female friends.

When we are raising our kids, it can be easier to develop friendships, but as we age it can be more difficult to find like-minded women.

Divorce is the second most stressful life event one can experience. It can also be emotionally draining and legally complex.

I know, because I went through a divorce five years ago. It was layered with caring for my aging parents and preparing my youngest, twin girls to go to college. I landed in the hospital for three days after the courts formally approved my divorce. Two weeks later, I was back in the hospital for another 4 days. It took me six months to recover and it's a path I don't recommend.

That’s why I put together the top advice I wished I’d known before, during, and after divorce in the hopes that you don’t struggle or land in the hospital like I did!
