This week on the podcast we welcome Culinary Nutrition Expert, Erin Smandych, to the show. Erin spent years on a roller coaster of restrictive eating, cleanses, and dieting. Instead of another meal plan or more willpower, she realized she needed a major shift in her belief system. Through proper nutrition and a major lifestyle change -- she was able to transform a lifetime of poor sleep, anxiety, and her relationship with food and her body. Now she helps other driven women ditch the diet mentality and food stress through nutrition and mindset coaching so they can look and feel their best -- without the struggle.
On this episode, we discuss Erin’s personal journey from a job in corporate finance to her current work as a culinary nutrition expert, we discuss ditching diet culture, her easy and accessible cooking and nutrition tips, and we also touch on the dark side of the wellness industry. We hope you enjoy this episode!

This week on Courageous Wellness we have an eye opening and incredible conversation with Allison Evans, the co-founder, of Branch Basics! On this episode we have a deep dialogue on toxic chemicals, endocrine disruptors, and the importance of green cleaning.
We also discuss Allison's personal journey to her work, starting from desperately seeking relief from sudden unexplained chronic pain and a loss of motor skills that over a dozen doctors could not diagnose. Fortunately, her Aunt Marilee, helped connect her physical breakdown to chemical exposure from the building materials in her newly-constructed apartment. After spending a summer living with Marilee - where everything Allison put in, on and around her body was truly clean - her symptoms disappeared and she experienced whole-body healing. She then went on to naturally reverse PCOS and, in 2016, conceive a beautiful baby girl, something doctors told her would never happen. This whole body transformation, inspired the women to create their company and spread their knowledge and mission to individuals everywhere!

This week on the Courageous Wellness podcast we sit down with Genevieve Riutort, the Chief Development Officer, of the Westside Food Bank. Westside Food Bank is an independent, non-governmental, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation founded in 1981, which provides food to social service agencies on the Westside of Los Angeles County. Westside Food Bank serves 70 member agencies and over 100,000 people benefit from these services each year.
On this episode we discuss the Westside Food Bank, Genevieve's personal journey to her current position, fighting food insecurity, the importance of social services, and our own personal experiences dealing with food insecurity. Today on the podcast we sit down with Trey and Ashleigh the founders of the Kombucha company Better Booch! Better Booch was born to create a local alternative for kombucha connoisseurs who preferred the small batch approach. Better Booch has quickly grown into one of the most prominent kombucha breweries in Southern California.
Trey and Ashleigh's personal journey to kombucha began when both were enjoying successful careers as international touring musicians, but looking to make a change. Ashleigh spent the better part of 5 years backing up singers like Rihanna and Selena Gomez and Trey wrote and performed with artists such as Josh Kelley and Lady Antebellum.
Trey originally became interested in Kombucha due to its alkalizing benefits, from a recommendation by his sister, who religiously consumed the beverage through her extensive and victorious bout with cancer. Together, Ashleigh and Trey believed they could create the best tea based Kombucha on the market. This love for Kombucha, tea, and creativity also grew into a love for each other. They are now married and new parents. On today's episode we have a deep dialogue on all the health benefits of Kombucha, discuss the sugar content, and all the ways it can benefit your overall health. We also talk career transitions and partnership in and out of the work place.
