  • Corkman Reaches The Final Of PETA's 'Hottest Vegan Over 50' Competition
In what is animal rights charity PETA's inaugural 'Hottest Vegan Over 50 Competition', a Cork man by the name of Brian O'Sullivan has been shortlisted as one of the 12 finalists.
The 54-year-old fashion designer and vegan health coach was vegetarian for 23 years but opted for the vegan lifestyle nearly three years ago as it was the only way he could truly show mercy, love, and compassion for all sentient beings.
Hot + heart of gold = perfect candidate!
Here's the criteria entrants had to meet:
Are you over 50? Rules are rules.
Are you attractive? We don’t mean having great headshots or a certain body mass index. We’re looking for vegans who are compassionate, enthusiastic, dedicated, optimistic, smart, fun, encouraging, and uplifting – all these virtues are super-attractive.
Do you take action for animals? There are many, many ways to help make the world a kinder place for animals, and we want to hear yours. From organising protests to rescuing abused and neglected animals to sharing delicious vegan meals with your community, the sky’s the limit.
Baz Ashmawy, who's covering on Dermot and Dave, chats to Brian about his transition from vegetarian to vegan and learns why the father-of-six was compelled to enter the comp. - so as to be "a voice for the animals".

  • How To Get The Most From Your N26 & Revolut Cards
They're a lot more powerful than you think
With the popularity of prepaid electronic and bank cards on the rise, Financial Expert Paul Merriman has some incredible tips on how users can maximise what they have to offer.
Speaking on Today FM's Dermot and Dave, Paul reckons people are "using it wrong, as far as I'm concerned" and encourages cardholders to setup either their N26 or Revolut as the main platform/bank for all transactions.
Their online apps not only provide impressive visual analytics to help track and manage finances, they will, in the not-so-distant-future, allow users to apply for mortgages an avail of much bigger services.
It's a new wave in the fight against Ireland's rip-off banking policies and the benefits are getting better all the time.

  • Meet The Dublin Brothers Making A Positive Change In War Zones Worldwide
Every one of us has heard stories about various war zones across the globe. We've seen the pictures and watched video clips on the news or online, but it never really seems to sink in.
Is it that we don't care, or is it that we have become numb to it all?
Sometimes, all we need is a fresh perspective and one man who decided to make a change is Dubliner Calvin James Sweeney.
Back in 2016, Calvin travelled to war-torn Syria to volunteer as a medic and ambulance driver and help those caught up in the middle of the conflict.
Before heading to Syria, he lived in Dublin city, working in social care with a wide range of clients from patients with dementia, autism, young offenders to those suffering from drug addiction.
Speaking on Today FM's Dermot and Dave, Calvin gives us some insight into just how bad things are when fighting ISIS on the frontline.
He also chats about the Scoop Foundation that he and his brother Andy setup in 2010; where they use the positive power of dance music and the arts to support humanitarian projects in the Middle East.
We're just taking it one person at a time, one problem at a time
