Picking at an old wound will only cause it more trouble. But ignoring it when it’s acting up isn’t healthy either. Focus on the wound when you need to.

If you want to do shadow work to heal, you don’t have to go out search for triggers. Things will naturally come up that send you back into this shadow self, and this is where the practice of responding instead of reacting can be so powerful. Transmute the energy when it arises and this will give you space from the trigger and begin to shift you into a new reality. This is how the real shadow work is done and where healing can begin. In the meantime, enjoy the shadows. Shadows can only exist in the presence of light, so lean into the light.
