My coaching clients tell me all the time that when a guy goes silent – even when the chemistry is awesome – they have a difficult time not jumping to conclusions, such as, “He doesn’t like me; I hit a nerve; I did something wrong”. You know the routine. But those thoughts are really made up stories or assumptions.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Having amazing chemistry with someone does not mean you’ll have a successful long-term relationship. Chemistry certainly helps with the physical side of a relationship but if you want a long-term partner, you’ll both need to dig deeper and share your values and dreams to build a solid foundation.
