  • Ep 78 - 'It's A Big Week On The Beautification Here'
Join Caroline Wilson and Corrie Perkin for Episode 78. We of course discuss some of the stories that have arisen from Round 1 of the 2019 AFL season and touch on some of the issues that have received wide spread coverage in the pre season - including the seeming decline in players' mental health and a growing concern that social media may be a significant contributing factor.
We check in on Caro and Corrie's 'Goal of the Month', Caro's been walking a lot and Corrie did indeed make her first sponge cake (see recipe below).
Waleed Aly's remarkable response to the Christchurch massacre has gone viral - is he Australia's new powerhouse commentator?
It's Corrie's turn to have a 'Crush of the Week' - this week it's her son in law and indeed all dedicated DIY gardeners and backyard veggie growers.  Our Crush is thanks as always to 'The Interchange Bench'.
The Interchange Bench fills all your long and short term staffing
    needs. Call 1800 i BENCH
When you want to take your staff team to the top, recruit at

In Books, Screen and Food Caro's recommending an oldie but a goodie - the Ruth Rendell Inspector Wexford series.  We discuss Vera  (now available  on ABC iview and TV) and Corrie shares her recipe for her passionfruit sponge (see below).
Caro's grumpy this week about constantly being asked to provide personal details for even the smallest of purchases.
In '6 Quick Questions' we ponder the etiquette involved in replying to a multitude of birthday texts, cheating at golf, the Meuller report, Chris Hemsworth and Matt Damon and the shocking performance of a senior liberal party politician on Q & A  Monday night.
Caro's 'GLT' is comes with a warning of sorts about accidentally blocking people on your mobile phone.

  • Ep 77 - 'Keep 'em Laughing'
Join Caroline Wilson and Corrie Perkin for Ep 77 ' Keep 'em Laughing'.
As Caro says we celebrate the light and mourn the shade in life - and there has been plenty of darkness in the past week. We discuss the horrific massacre in Christchurch and question the role of the media and the response from our politicians in the wake of such a crime. What of Fraser Anning's comments and Egg Boi?
We check in with Caro and Corrie's 'Goal of the Month' - can Corrie master the art of baking the perfect sponge cake?
We talk mentoring - why do we need mentors? What influence have our mentors had on us?
Caro has a spiritually inspired 'Crush of the Week' Shane Healy, former footy commentator and educator who's now the Director of Media & Communications for the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne.

Caro's grumpy that Barrie Cassidy has announced his retirement from ABC TV's Insiders.
In '6 Quick Questions' Corrie give us her Top 8 for the 2019 AFL Season and recommends a couple of podcasts (The Reckoning with David Marr on the Rise and Fall of George Pell )   and The Outer Sanctum Podcast.

  • Ep 76 - 'Death Valley'
Join Caroline Wilson and Corrie Perkin for Ep 76 - 'Death Valley'.
Yes it's that weird time of the year just before the AFL Season starts that journos describe as a good footy story wasteland. . .but we've got plenty to talk about this week.
Caro and Corrie share some of their favourite moments from the epic country wedding on the weekend.
We touch on the biggest news stories of the past week including Cardinal Pell's sentencing, the Reserve Bank's stance on Climate Change, American celebs paying big bucks to get their kids into college, the prospect of an AFL twilight Grand Final and Sam Newman's latest stuff up.
We remember the wonderful work of Les Carlyon and check in on the 'Goal of the Month' for March.
Corrie's 'Crush of the Week' is the wonderful community in Hamilton (and country towns in general) who pulled out all stops to assist with wedding preparations.  Our 'Crush of the Week' is thanks to our sponsor The Interchange Bench www.interchangebench.com.au

On the small screen they've been loving Vera, Sunday nights on ABC TV and The Marvellous Mrs Maisel on Amazon.  Caro shares a recipe for a simple yet flavourful lamb shoulder by Matt Wilkinson (see recipe below).
Corrie's grumpy about the rude trucks on the Geelong Road, in '6 Quick Questions' Caro shares her Top 8 predictions for the 2019 AFL Season and a great 'GLT' - Captain Moonlight at the Anglesea Surf Club.

  • Ep 75 - 'Romance At The Op-Shop'
While Corrie’s away in ‘Mother of the Groom’ mode, Anna from the Op-Shop and Caro’s daughter Rose come off the Interchange Bench for Episode 75 'Romance at the Op-Shop'.
Caro shares the detail of her scary fire evacuation experience while hiking on the weekend which paled in comparison to some of the heartbreaking stories of loss emerging from bushfires in Gippsland in recent days.
The news of George Pell’s conviction last week has rocked the Catholic Church and the wider community to the core.  We pay tribute to journalist Louise Milligan who’s incredible reporting and writing about the case (including in her book Cardinal and Monday night’s Four Corners) has helped to expose the true toll of crimes that some, it would seem, seek to diminish.
On a lighter note – we get an Op-Shop update from Anna where everyone's doing the 'Kondo, Kondo, Kondo' dance and there's more than a little romance in the air.
Caro’s 'Crush of the Week' is Rafael Nadal after he put Nick Kyrgios in his place, but she’s grumpy about what she sees is the AFL’s misguided investment in AFLX.
In BSF – Anna and Rose jinx each other with an identical book recommendation for Normal People by Sally Rooney. Anna provides a rather brutal but honest review of the new Michael Caine film King of Thieves and she shares and easy and delicious duck salad recipe (recipe coming soon via our Facebook page).
In ‘6 Quick Questions’ we remember Mike Willesee, get Rose’s millennial perspective on how much climate change issues could affect the next election and reminisce about Moomba memories.
Rose shares a GLT, a fantastic free screening event at ACMI in Melbourne The Clock.

  • Ep 74 - 'There's Always A Rogue Ingredient'
Join Caroline Wilson and Corrie Perkin for Episode 74 ‘There’s Always a Rogue Ingredient’.
Caro and Corrie review the 2019 Oscars, the winners, the losers and of course the fashion. Did the Academy get it all wrong this year?
As February nears its end we check in on the ‘Goal of the Month’ progress.
Gossip Columns (their writers and publishers) are under fire this week. Is it possible to write an ethical gossip column? Name and shame or don’t write it at all asserts Caro, appalled by recent stories about an anonymous ‘AFL legend’s’ marriage breakdown.
Caro also has plenty to say about the AFL’s new two strike drug policy – is it softer than ever before?
The reporting of Julie Bishop’s departure from politics has Corrie fired up, but Caro’s not sure what all of the fuss is about.
Corrie’s “Crush of the Week” is not one but fifty-eight former senior national security officials in the US, who are daring to stand up against Donald Trump’s plans to build a border wall.
In BSF Corrie’s recommending Saving Mona Lisa by Gerri Chanel (available HERE), Caro’s been off to the movies to see Stan and Ollie and Corrie shares a great cake recipe from Donna Hay (see recipe below).
Poor customer service from airline staff has made Corrie super grumpy this week and there’s plenty of ground to cover in ‘6 Quick Questions’ including Karl Lagerfeld’s cat heiress and actor Richard Roxburgh’s sell-out car commercial.
Caro’s got a couple of GLTs as well.

  • Ep 73 - 'Hags, Crones, Witches & Mothers-In-Law' With Jane Caro
Join Caroline Wilson, Corrie Perkin and special guest Jane Caro for Episode 73 – ‘Hags, Crones, Witches & Mothers-In-Law'.
Caro, Corrie and Jane deep dive into some of the issues addressed in Jane’s wonderful new book Accidental Feminists (available HERE) including the spectre of poverty and homelessness confronting older women, the myth of work-life balance and our attitudes towards women in power.
Caro admits to failing her ‘Goal of the Month’ challenge while Corrie’s making a last ditch effort to achieve hers, we discuss the validity of the Ipsos Poll on the Medivac Bill and find out why Jane decided not to take on Tony Abbott in the next election.
Caro’s ‘Crush of the Week’ is Jack Thompson.  In ‘BSF’ we've been watching Mrs Wilson on the ABC and making the most of a glut of tomatoes.  Jane’s grumpy about being stood up by not one but three Uber drivers and taxis in Melbourne.
In ‘6 Quick Questions’ Caro’s dislike for TV Show Married At First Sight  intensifies, we delve into ‘Operation Castle Dove’ and the fate of Melbourne University Publishing – plus Corrie has a ‘GLT’ for anyone needing a little more style in their life.

Caro’s Slow Cooked Tomatoes (from Jo Mc Dougal from Ep 73)
Pre heat your oven to 120C.
Use any ripe tomatoes (but Caro prefers the Roma variety).
    Cut tomatoes in in half.
Put them onto a baking tray.
Pour on to the tomatoes a tiny bit of Sweet Chilli Sauce (perhaps a ¼ of a teaspoon on each tomato half).
Slow cook for an hour and a half (at 120c).
After they’ve cooked for an hour and a half, put on a dollop of fetta or Meredith Goats Cheese on each half (or whatever soft fetta or goats cheese you have in the fridge).
Also pop on half a leaf of basil.
Put them in the oven for another half an hour (so two hours slow cooking in total).
Serve as a bar snack or as a side to your favourite dishes.

  • Ep 72 - 'You're Shameless!'
Join Caroline Wilson and Corrie Perkin for Ep 72 - 'You're Shameless!'.
We check in with our 'Goal of the Month' pledges and review a big week of celebrations (including a Hen's Night, Brian Cook's star studded 30th dinner and the Do Re Mi reunion).
After the Morrison government experienced an historic loss in parliament yesterday we discuss the ramifications for Bill Shorten ahead of the next election and we look into the sacking of Matildas coach Alen Stajcic.
Corrie's Valentine's Day inspired "Crush of the Week" is former judge Michael Kirby.
In "BSF" Caro's recommending not one but three movies Vice, On The Basis of Sex and Green Book, Corrie's been reading Chloe Hooper's The Arsonist  and with a nod to Tony Mokbel - Caro shares her favourite new zucchini recipe (see recipe below).
The ratings success of Married At First Sight is making Caro more than a little grumpy this week and in "6 Quick Questions" we debate the essence of pesto, talk Barnaby Joyce and Wallace Stegner and get a little excited about John B Fairfax investing in a new investigative arm of Crikey.
To wrap things up Corrie shares a slightly unconventional "GLT" for anyone battling with a testy toddler.
    Crushed Courgettes (Zucchini)
    from Yottam Ottolenghi’s Simple.
3 large courgettes, cut in half lengthways, then into 6cm pieces (850g)
    1 tsp dried mint
    5g picked thyme leaves
    70 ml olive oil
1 whole head of garlic, separated into unpeeled cloves
    2 tbsp chopped mint leaves
    1 ½ tbsp chopped dill
    1 tbsp lemon juice
    Salt and black pepper

Pre heat the oven to 200C fan
Place the courgettes in a bowl with the dried mint, thyme, oil, ¾ teaspoon of salt and some black pepper. Mix, then transfer to a medium baking dish: you want the courgettes to form a single layer, cut side up and sitting slightly overlapping. Bake for 15 minutes, then add the garlic cloves and bake for another 15 minutes, until the courgettes have softened and taken on some colour. Transfer everything to a colander (set over a bowl or the sink), pressing the courgettes so that they start to release some of their liquid. Set aside to cool for at least 30 minutes, discarding the liquid released.
Transfer the contents of the colander to a mixing bowl and squeeze the garlic cloves out of their skins (which can then be discarded). Mash everything together with a fork: if the skin of the courgettes is still a little touch, just use a knife to roughly chop them. Stir in the mint leaves, dill and lemon juice to serve.

  • Ep 71 - 'I'm Never Going To Kondo My Wardrobe'
Join Caroline Wilson and Corrie Perkin for episode 71 of our podcast ‘I'm Never Going To Kondo My Wardrobe’, we kick off the show with more listener messages and feedback than ever.
There's a ‘Goal of the Month’ update and Corrie explains why the resignations and shake up at Melbourne University Press will have far reaching consequences. Does it now become an election issue?
We mark the 10thanniversary of Black Saturday which brings back intense memories for so many including for Corrie who reported on the scene.
Our thoughts are with fire threatened communities in Tasmania and Victoria who are grappling with fires as we speak.
Could the government just please say sorry? Corrie wonders after the findings of the Banking Royal Commission were revealed.
We hear from Josh Frydenberg and Caro predicts dire consequences for the Prime Minister.

We say the AFLW competition kick off on the weekend, but is women’s footy getting overshadowed by AFLX?
Caro offers up an analysis of the North Melbourne / Tasmania hybrid team.

Corrie’s “Crush this Week” is Behrouz Boochani who wrote his book ‘No Friend But the Mountains’ via WhatsApp and and translation from Manus Island.
