We continue on talking about the Dyslexic Advantage Chapter 6 part 1 (p.51-53). It has been a while now since we discussed a chapter of the book. Now we have dyslexic parents to help us and they can also share their thoughts with regards to the text. This time we talk about how dyslexia thinking often has stronger 3D than 2D reasoning and how it can create a drawback on school but a big advantage in the workplace.

We are meeting with parents again in our usual parents' coffee time via Zoom. This time, we discuss what I call the 5 gears of dyslexia; Reading, Writing, Remembering, Results, and Organization. We talked about how hard it is to move from gear to gear because of dyslexia restricting their movements. We also talked about students getting stuck in a gear that ends up using most of their energy and intelligence to cope with other functions.

We explore the story of Dr. Bhavin Shah, a Behavioural Optometrist, and the co-occurring visual problems that go along with dyslexia. Gustaf and Mattias of Lexplore Analytics, shared their exciting technology that can really help identify students with difficulties in reading. Using eye-tracking technology, they track the movement of the students' eyes while reading a text and within minutes analyze if they have reading difficulty.
