"If you stick with running long enough, and you rack up a bunch of goals that you've achieved, you realize none of them was the ultimate destination you were looking for." - Alex

  • Alex Hutchinson, Physicist, Journalist, New York Times bestseller, and a former Canadian national team middle-distance runner, returns for his third appearance. Alex recently released his second book The Explorer's Gene: Why We Seek Big Challenges, New Flavors and the Blank Spots on the Map.

We dive into the themes of exploration, the balance between exploring new challenges and exploiting known strengths. Alex shares insights on the genetic and environmental factors that influence our desire to explore, the importance of embracing struggle in both running and life, and the lessons learned from his journey as a runner and writer.

We thank Alex for joining us, and helping us better understand how balancing exploring can unlock big gains in running and in life.
