Alexandra shatters the stereotypical image of a trafficking victim, sharing her journey from a "normal, boring, middle-class" childhood to being trafficked at age 20. As a former child advocate and high-achieving student, her story reveals how master manipulators exploit universal human needs for love and belonging, not just overt vulnerabilities.

In this episode, we’ll hear about the complex path that led her there, including a history of childhood sexual assault and a brutalizing experience with the justice system that left her feeling disempowered and seeking control. Alexandra provides a chillingly clear explanation of the psychological coercion traffickers use, describing the "survival mindset" where the choice isn't between right and wrong, but between one risk and a worse one. She breaks down the moment she was trafficked—not by a stranger in an alley, but by a partner she loved and feared—and explains why screaming for help never even crossed her mind.

Our guest today, who was diagnosed with CF later in life at 37, opens up about her personal battle with the disease and the incredible healing path she embarked on after the diagnosis. At the time, she was a healthy yoga teacher and integrative nutrition expert, raising a one-year-old while struggling with her health. After years of hospital stays and a life expectancy pegged at just 37, she found the courage to explore alternative treatments, including Gerson Therapy, which became a life-changing catalyst in her healing process. 

In this episode, we’ll hear about her decision to embrace Gerson Therapy, a controversial and intensive approach that goes against the typical CF treatment recommendations. With daily enemas, juicing, and detoxification, she began a journey that not only supported her physical body but also deeply impacted her mental and emotional health. Jane McLelland is a chartered physiotherapist who worked extensively in both the NHS and the private sector. After being given a terminal diagnosis with only a few weeks to live, Jane embarked on a desperate search for answers, uncovering research — some of it decades old — in her quest to survive. Rather than focusing on curing cancer, which is often unachievable, her strategy was to stop the disease from growing. Remarkably, her approach not only halted its progress — the cancer disappeared altogether. 

Using herself as a human guinea pig, Jane devised a pioneering protocol: a cocktail of low-toxicity, repurposed drugs not typically used for cancer, combined with a low-glycaemic diet and powerful supplements. This regimen effectively “starved” her cancer of its essential fuels — glucose, glutamine, and fat. She later captured this groundbreaking method in her ingenious and easy-to-follow “McLelland Metro Map,” which continues to guide patients and practitioners worldwide. 

In her work, Jane shares her deep exploration into cancer treatment and management. She highlights the profound impact of diet — particularly the benefits of a low-glycaemic approach, eliminating dairy, and reducing meat consumption. She also demonstrates how lifestyle changes can influence health outcomes, including how carefully calibrated, low-dose chemotherapy can bolster, rather than suppress, the immune system.
