Ria lost her mother to acute myeloid leukemia and after participating in the campaign, new she had found a new love and passion for non-profits, specifically LLS. Shortly after, her mentors, Allison Gurnitz (then LLS Board Chair) and then Executive Director, Beth Gorman, recruited her to work for the National Capital Area Chapter. Fast forward ten years and Ria now oversees the Washington Metro Area and state of Maryland (aka the Mid-Atlantic) for LLS.
