Do you have a lot of stress in your life? And do you know that your body holds a lot of stress, and you know you need to do something about it?
If you answered YES to the above, but you're not quite sure what doing something about it would look like, then this is the show for you!
I’m Aly DiRoma. Welcome to the Modern Body Podcast where we discuss Pilates and Movement practices to support your body so you can move as you were meant to.
As a lifelong dancer and dance teacher, I thought I had a better understanding than most. Then I found Pilates and gained a new perspective on how my body functioned.
In this inaugural episode, I'll be sharing a powerful diaphragmatic breathing technique that you can practice wherever you are as you go about your day. I also offer a simple, easy-to-understand description of our nervous system and how we use our breath to alleviate stress in our bodies.
My hope is that you'll be curious enough to find a Pilates class near you, try out this breathing technique at home, and come to appreciate the important role that breathwork can play in the forms of movement that we choose to partake in.
Pilates is but one of the many forms of body movement that I value, but it's a great place for us to start our journey together of moving, breathing, and being.
So please, take a moment to enjoy a breath, and allow yourself to tune inward so that you can focus on your body and yourself as you’re listening to today’s episode.
In This Episode:
- Understanding the role of stress in our lives (and how to overcome it)
- Using diaphragmatic breathing to reduce stress
- What yawns tell us about our body's nervous system
- The Mind/Body/Movement Connection
- How Pilates can benefit you at any age
- Try out the breathing technique during your day + find a Pilates Class near you!
And so much more!
