Dr. Simon Mittal, a physician with 30 years of experience and a background in both clinical and administrative roles, shares his journey of transitioning from working within a large health system to founding a consulting company aimed at making health care sustainable for both providers and patients.

Ms. Maren Mittal, a licensed clinical social worker with expertise in mental health therapy, offers insights from her experience supporting medical professionals and families impacted by the demands of the medical field.

Together, they delve into topics such as navigating health care leadership roles, balancing personal and professional responsibilities, and the importance of emotional intelligence in creating effective teams. Join us for a compelling conversation about redesigning clinical days, fostering relationships, and building sustainable health care models.

Here are 3 key takeaways from this episode:

  1. Embrace Vulnerability and Curiosity in Change Management: It’s essential for healthcare providers to feel empowered to voice potential improvements and to approach organizational changes with a mindset of curiosity, engaging with stakeholders to collaboratively bring ideas to life.
  2. Prioritize Emotional Intelligence and Relationship Building: Successful leadership and team collaboration in healthcare heavily rely on cultivating trust and fostering emotional safety within teams. This ensures that everyone feels seen, heard, and valued, which is a cornerstone for high-functioning healthcare systems.
  3. Recognize the Importance of Individual Resilience: Providers must acknowledge personal boundaries and self-care to maintain their passion and effectiveness in their roles. Resiliency isn’t just about enduring challenges but thriving amidst them by aligning work with personal values and finding joy in the practice.
