In this episode of Ask Dr Jessica, Dr Jessica Hochman is joined by her husband Dr Michael Hochman to discuss the benefits and potential consequences to asymptomatic testing. Many schools have implemented weekly covid19 testing as a means to prevent spread, but does but how well does this work in actuality? And with weekly testing, what are the unintended consequences? Is it possible that the benefits to testing are outweighed by the drawbacks? How do we make this determination?
Dr Michael Hochman is board certified in internal medicine. He graduated from Princeton University and received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He also completed the two year prestigious Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars fellowship and received his MPH from UCLA. Dr Hochman is very passionate about how medical systems operate and often concludes that with regards to medical treatment and intervention "less is more". He is well-versed in medical literature & studies--Dr Hochman is the founder of the medical book series, "50 Studies Every Doctor Should Know", published by Oxford press. Dr Hochman is currently the inaugural CEO of "Healthcare in Action" a non profit organization providing "street medicine" to our homeless population. He also has a podcast called "Healthy Skeptic MD" which can be found on youtube and all podcast platforms.
Dr Jessica Hochman is a board certified pediatrician, mom to three children, and she is very passionate about the health and well being of children.
