Welcome to Protecting Your Nest with Dr. Tony Hampton. Jamie Sandoval is a nurse practitioner specialist in New Mexico. She has worked in critical care for seven years (mostly as an open heart recovery nurse). She has her bachelor of nursing from Eastern New Mexico University, and did her Family Practice Nurse Practitioner training at Walden University. She currently works for Presbyterian Medical Group Family Practice and is the Medical Director of Round 2 IV Infusion Clinic.
In their discussion today, Tony talks with Jamie about how she discovered the LowCarb/keto diet as a result of her search for a way of eating that would alleviate the pain from/cure the many ailments she was afflicted with, how she started utilizing her revolutionary dietary discovery to help her patients, and how to communicate effectively with patients and inspire them to take their healthcare into their own hands.
Additionally, Jamie shares some information regarding the culture of New Mexico and the indigenous communities of the state, the indigenous diet and foods of the state, the history of oppression of the native people in the area, and how this history has led to many of the unhealthy dietary traditions among the native people.
