Episode No. 119 What Are You Running From?

Listen Later

I first noticed it way back in March. It started off small; at first, I was binging way more tv than usual. Then I slowly stopped journaling. Silence? I hated it! I needed noise ALL THE TIME! I became even more addicted to my phone and social media. Seriously my scroll game was on ten. I could feel my spirit asking me to be still and go within, but I refused. Instead, I chose to run, distract myself, and shut down. Why? Well, because I felt that a significant shift was rolling its way into my life. Those BIG questions kept popping up in my head. You know the ones:

What's next?

Are you happy?

What happened to your dream?

Are you still on the right path?

Is there more?

Is this enough?

Yeah, those big babies! Now, usually, I am more than happy to do a deep dive into those soul-burning questions. I've always been super introspective. But this time? Not so much!  I wasn't having any of it. I was trying my hardest to run away from myself because I knew deep down inside God was calling me to step out (yet again) of my very plush comfort zone.

Running long distances has never been my forte, honey. I got EXHAUSTED. So I surrendered. I finally silenced all the noise and came face to face with the very person I was trying to run away from, me.

And so I answered those questions, and basically, I'm at a point in my life where I know it's time to get uncomfortable again and get back aligned with my dreams and goals. And you know what happens when you step outta that comfort zone, right? Well, you might have to quit, pivot, or have tough conversations. Leaving the comfort zones invites challenges, sacrifices, and re-routing. Yep, I was trying my hardest to avoid the very things that are crucial to my growth and calling. So I'm not running anymore, and today I invite you to retire your running shoes too.
