When I first started No Real Jewelry back in 2015 I had a good, maybe 200 monthly readers, tops.  If you haven't guessed it by now that's pretty small. I ain't gonna lie I was tempted to throw in the whole towel because ya girl's ego was fragile. I mean being a beginner sucks sometimes right? You work so hard and have all these cool ideas only for 3 people to read it. Yikes!Well, luckily enough I shook my defeatist feels off and tapped into a mindset shift that has since helped me stay in the creative entrepreneurial game for nearly 4 years. Want to know my secret? Well, it might sound a little silly, but I acted liked Oprah.You see, Oprah runs a magazine (amongst other things, duh)  and my thought was-- "Hmm the blog is like an online magazine so why not run like it already has a million readers and paid sponsorships up the wahzoo?" 🤯 #MindBlownI thought to myself; "Jessica why don't you treat this bad baby like you're already speaking on panels and hosting workshops. Why don't you hustle like  NRJ is already one of the top online hubs for women's wellness and inspiration?"And so I did just that. My little blog that only had 200 monthly readers was being handled like it was already Essence or Vogue. I didn't wait until I had a million readers to boss up.  I got my Oprah on when I had NOTHING.I'd wake up early and get dressed like I was running a multi-million dollar media group. I'd show up and be super consistent because I acted like I had 2 million readers counting on me. That "acting like Oprah until I become Oprah" has been the very mindset shift that has helped me put my blinders on and stay consistent whether my number was popping or not. It's helped me build up the confidence to approach big brands I had no business approaching and secure paid brand sponsorships. It's honestly the thing that has kept me going, PERIODT! 💅🏽So in today's episode, we're going to be talking about how to show up as the woman that already has the very thing you've been working so hard for.
