One thing that we alcoholics and addicts have in common when starting recovery is that we are afraid of the process. Such fear is nothing to be ashamed of because it is natural. Our brains are hard-wired to become uncomfortable in the face of the unknown. Simply the anticipation of a potentially unpleasant or stressful circumstance causes the brain to go into flight or fight mode. And since fear is always about something that might happen, it is a reaction to an imagined, rather than a real, event.
Tonight, we talk about Fear.

Fear is always about loss; it is present only when there is desire. Fear arises when there is a conflict between what you want, need or love and what might happen if that want, need, or love is not fulfilled. Addressing fears in recovery is important because fears have the power to derail many of your recovery efforts.
Verse 23 - Living Without Fear
Be like nature: accept what is without fear.
A gale does not last all morning; it is only wind.
A cloudburst does not last all day; it is only rain.
Accept the actions of others just as we accept the actions of nature.
Practice the Way in all your affairs; then you can live without fear.
Do not fear success; then you can thrive in success.
Do not fear failure; then you can thrive in failure.
How is this possible?
By helping someone else overcome their fear.
