G'day fam!
Today's podcast is brought to you by mycar Tyre and Auto.
Big thank you to Jaimie Bloch of Mind Movement Psychology for jumping on the pod and taking us through a deep dive on grief and loss. We focus specifically on natural disasters and how they can have a huge impact not only on one person but also a whole community.
Jamie is a clinical psychologist and behavioural expert. She answers all of my questions honestly, but she also has a warmth to her and really cares about how we look after ourselves and others, especially in times of grief and loss.
In this chat we talk about how grief and loss affect us all differently and how we all process tough things differently. We talk about moving through grief collectivity and if there is ever a silver lining to come with going through tragic events like natural disasters.
I share my experiences volunteering during the Northern Rivers floods a couple of years ago. Jamie explained the simple necessities we need in these times from connection with another human and knowing our furry friends are ok to having electricity for charging our phones or boiling the kettle to make a tea.
Jamie taught me all about survivor's guilt and second hand survivors guilt and trauma.
We talk about the power of community and our innate primal need for connection.
Jamie also teaches me about the awesome initiative by mycar Tyre & Auto inviting people who own an electric vehicle with V2L capabilityThey're called the mycar Chargers and can use their EV to power household items when there’s power loss caused by a natural disaster. It’s a small thing, but a powered-up phone, laptop, even a hearing
aid can make a big difference. Find out more and register at: mycar.com.au/TheChargers
