This is the first in a series of interviews with people who have suffered and dealt with anxiety in their own way. Many people have used a mixture of therapies and medication and have insights into the way they have dealt with and overcome many of the challenges associated with anxiety and depression.
Their stories help to show the vast range of circumstances where anxiety shows up and gives us all hope that our lives can be better in the future.
These are their stories, and you are free to take from them whatever you wish. Dawn is not a doctor or psychologist and therefore please consult your own medical practitioners before taking any action with regards to medication.
Leigh has been an IT Consultant in highly stressful jobs for over 25 years now and suffered from terrible anxiety and panic attacks. It wasn't until his second wife said she wanted him to leave that he realised the importance of life itself. Listen in to this episode to hear his story and how he overcame both anxiety and stress to lead a happier and more fulfilling life.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
- A stressful life at both work and home is what triggered anxiety for Leigh. He felt like he was in a state of constant panic where he had no escape. He experienced a lot of mental fear and was struggling to cope with each day that came.
- Leigh had to take some medication to take him away from the edge. It was then his aim to find mechanisms and tactics to cope and be able to come off the medication. The medication gave him the head space to give him clarity on what needed to be changed.
- Anxiety hit Lee for a second time when his second wife divorced him. Although he found the divorce easier than the first time, it made him realise that a lot of what happened in the relationship was unfortunately his fault. This has meant he now knows when to take responsibility for his anxieties impact on situations.
- Leigh has found exercise has helped with his anxiety in lots of ways. It helps him feel better physically but also helps clear his mind.
- If you are struggling with a situation or relationships with someone then talk to them about it. Nip any issues in the bud and don’t allow your mind to overthink things.
- Life really can be amazing if we tackle it in the right way and that means being kind, helping others, dealing with daily issues, and letting our thoughts pass-thru rather than letting them take control of our reality.
- To live without anxiety and stress leads to happiness which is what we all want and if only people realised how easy this can be, the World would become a better place.
BEST MOMENTS
“Medication sometimes can stop you going any further down, it puts the brakes on for you to then start climbing back out it a metaphorical way”
“If there’s something on your mind, deal with it and don’t play around with it. Be kind to people and do everything you can to help people as much as you can”

ABOUT THE GUEST
Leigh Adams
Leigh has been an IT Consultant in highly stressful jobs for over 25 years now and suffered from terrible anxiety and panic attacks. It wasn't until his second wife said she wanted him to leave that he realised the importance of life itself. Leigh took 3 months off work to sort out his affairs and walked over 10 miles a day.
It was during this calming time that Leigh realised the true benefits of having a clear mind. He then set up his own blog at Change Your Life Forever https://changeyourlifeforever.co.uk in order to pass on his experience and hopefully help other people in the same situation.
Life really can be amazing if we tackle it in the right way and that means being kind, helping others, dealing with daily issues, and letting our thoughts pass-thru rather than letting them take control of our reality.
To live without anxiety and stress leads to happiness which is what we all want and if only people realised how easy this can be, the World would become a better place.
