Is football coming back anytime soon? It’s proving impossible to say definitively. As the Premier League’s ‘Project Restart’ gathers momentum, Ligue 1 has announced that they will not attempt to finish this season, after the French government banned gatherings of large people until at least August. We break down that news on today’s episode of On The Continent!
This decision has brought on yet more worries for French clubs and the precarious financial states some of them are in, with €600m owed in outstanding transfer funds to those clubs. We discuss their situation as well as developments from Spain, where Julen Lopetegui voiced concerns about the mental and physical demands on players in lockdown, and Germany who are cautiously planning to restart the Bundesliga. Don’t worry, there’s also a portion of meaty football chat; we work out where the likes of Edinson Cavani, Dries Martens and Gonzalo Higuaín may end up plying their trade when football eventually returns!

On today's Ramble Meets... Andy Brassell is joined by former Leicester City and Woking forward turned broadcast journalist, Warren Haughton!
From playing on the estates in his hometown of Birmingham to trialling with Aston Villa at 14, Warren became obsessed with football from a young age. After a stint at Leicester City, he journeyed through a variety of non-league sides before pursuing the journalism career he's become known for. He joins us to discuss his nomadic playing career, including the physical and mental strains that nearly made him quit aged just 24, as well as his second career in broadcasting. Plus, he tells us about receiving a special pair of gold Adidas Predators from Kenny Dalglish!

Former England goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis joins us to discuss her thoughts on why they have not capitalised on last year’s momentous World Cup performance, how Neville will be remembered and who may replace him – will former USA manager Jill Ellis take over?
We also reminisce about our favourite matches of this season and get to some of your correspondence!
We'd love to here from you in these unprecedented, chaotic times - email us: [email protected] or tweet us @JulesBreach @AndyBrassell @FootballRamble

Just how many times can Kevin Keegan be brought back to St James’ Park to restore some of the feel good factor to Newcastle? At least three, it would seem. He’s being lined up for an ambassadorial role as the looming Saudi takeover continues to loom.
Another beloved ex-Newcastle legend, Alan Pardew, has had to deny that he’s getting a sweet bonus for saving ADO Den Haag from relegation even though he has, while Jurgen Klopp reckons he can get Kylian Mbappe to join Liverpool by being mates with his dad and Barcelona receive an intriguing pitch regarding the naming rights of the Nou Camp.
We also learn of Pete’s university heist and have to watch the truly dreadful 1980s movie Hotshot. Will this indignity never end?

What with football on a lengthy hiatus due to COVID-19, and us all stuck inside as a result, we thought we'd take a look back at some of our favourite episodes from past series of At The Match! Join Football Ramble Daily's Andy Brassell on his travels far and wide, as he samples some of the best atmospheres in world football and speak to those at the coalface of the game.
Today, we join Andy in Cardiff as Wales' return to the Principality Stadium was spoiled by an imperious Spain side and helped out by some abject defending from the hosts. Andy speaks Russell Todd of Podcast Pêl-droed on what following the national team means, the identity of Welsh football, what returning the Millennium Stadium was like and Bobby Gould’s kit design skills.
Which episodes of At The Match do you want us to revisit? Let us know on Twitter: @FootballRamble & @andybrassell.

We’re back for some North London heartbreak on today’s episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard. BBC Sport’s Gavin Ramjuan joins us to discuss Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to Barcelona in the 2006 Champions League final!
After transitioning out of the Invincibles era, this Arsenal side had become incredibly solid defensively – they only conceded two goals on their route to the final, during which they dispatched Real Madrid and Juventus. They met a Barcelona side that, though it had the early shoots of their infamous Pep Guardiola side, was not up to the same standards. Sol Campbell put the Londoners up with a powerful header but, after Jens Lehmann’s red card and fatigue began to set in, a Henrik Larsson-inspired comeback saw the Catalan side win only their second Champions League trophy.

In which we learn that David Moyes has been keeping busy delivering shopping to the elderly. He’s really enjoying it too! Could this eventually lead to him retiring early and becoming a village handyman? Stranger things have happened.
Over at UEFA HQ they’ve made a decision about how the various domestic leagues will decide on qualification for European competition… and it’s that they’ll decide it themselves, on merit. Put more simply, they’ve said “you sort it out”.
As well as all this the Saudi takeover of Newcastle United edges closer, but company man Richard Keys has some misgivings, and as ever they are purely and wholly honourable. We also hear a suggestion to help the NHS and open up the Time Tunnel, where we revisit Tim Sherwood’s lowest point.

We’re back with a brand new episode of On The Continent, here to try and plot a path through football’s volatile calendar so you don’t have to!
As the Champions League and Europa League campaigns may well be resumed in August, we look at the resulting implications for Europe’s various leagues and their quest to finish their respective seasons. There is some promising news coming out of Germany as games may well resume in May, albeit behind closed doors. Elsewhere, AS Roma are still trying to finalise plans for the Friedkin Group takeover, while we assess Monaco's perilous financial state.
We also speak to Preben Rokkjaer, Head of Marketing at Danish side FC Midtjylland, who gives us some more details about their new drive-in football idea that will help fans watch their march to the Superliga title!

You can also find an extended cut of our interview with Preben in this week's episode of 'Ramble On', available this Sunday.

On today's episode of Fantasy Five-a-Side, we're joined by comedian, host of ITV2's CelebAbility and, of course, the voice of Love Island: it's Iain Stirling!
He's here to talk us through a dream five-a-side squad full of players that represent touchpoints in his life, from being a young season ticket holder at Hibs, to streaming Fifa online and developing a love for Liverpool upon meeting some Scandinavian supporters while at university in Norway. It's all topped off with Scottish comedy royalty and one of the best players to ever grace the Scottish Premiership.

The dynamic duo are back for a brand new episode of Jules & Andy on Football Ramble Daily and, boy, do we have some interesting stories to get stuck into.
With the Saudi Arabian-backed takeover at Newcastle United appearing imminent, we speak to The Associated Press journalist Rob Harris about the mechanics of the deal, what still needs to be done and how Mike Ashley will be remembered at the club, should he finally disappear into the ether.
We also discuss Mesut Özil's decision to reject a proposed 12.5% pay cut and how much of the criticism he's received is unwarranted, as well as celebrating some ordinary football news for a change: Ashley Young has signed a new contract at Inter!
