  • Episode 174: Truth is a Lie

This week we are flashing back to a really important episode about the things we tell ourselves.

Raise your hand if you've been telling yourself you're just too busy to actually make changes related to your overall health! Consider this, your reality is based on how you see things as they appear to YOU and, it's all an illusion! Gasp! We know! Your truth, the thing you tell yourself, is actually a lie and it's what is holding you back.  So, maybe it's time to question your truth and start to make some progress...

Tune in this week to hear Carrie discuss:

    - How your story matters and why we want to get to know you.

    - Identifying strategies, a plan and a path forward to find your truth.

    - How if we don't question those truths then we're unable to make progress.

    - Are your actions connected to what you actually want?

    - Are you ready to show up for yourself?

  • Episode 173: I Know What To Do, I Just Dont Do It

Have you ever thought to yourself I know what to do, I just don’t do it? It’s not just you! There is actual psychology around why we don’t stick to things!

Our brain loves change and new things, but it doesn’t like anything that is actually unfamiliar. As soon as our brain recognizes what is unfamiliar, even if it is a good change, we can start to self sabotage.  Before you know it, you start to go back into old habits that were not serving you because you missed the signs when that was starting to happen.

Let’s apply this to the diet industry for a second, all of the options that have been marketed to us have us manipulated into believing that we have to put ourselves at a deficit and if we restrict, we’re going to thrive. Do you know anything that actually thrives in a deficit? We quickly find ourselves moving from diet to diet in an effort to achieve success.

The key here is to understand yourself, your triggers and then S.N.A.P.

    S.N.A.P:

    Stop

    Notice

    Ask

    Pivot

We’re breaking down the brain function that is responsible for this process on this week’s episode and giving you strategies to overcome these moments and give your brain a chance to adopt a nutrition solution that actually serves you.

  • Episode 172: Love Yourself Much?

Do you love yourself? We’re serious! Read that again, process the question and answer it honestly. Do you truly love yourself or do you hate your body so much that you’ve been searching for things to fix it your whole life?!

That’s a big question, right? With Valentine’s around the corner and our new book study launching, we thought it was the perfect time to start asking.

Imagine if we had a sense of love for ourselves that started when you were young?  We’d all grow up believing we were enough, or even MORE than enough. Instead, we grow up to try to be like someone else, and in some cases, that’s a version of ourselves that we don’t actually  like.

It’s time to change the narrative and we’re going to start by putting it all out there! This week’s podcast is dedicated to the concept of self-love and the idea that it can be a positive experience.

  • Episode 171: You Are What You Eat

We are digging into something a little controversial this week! Who has heard about the Netflix documentary series, You Are What You Eat: A Twin Experiment?

The idea for the series is based on an 8-week study conducted by Stanford University that put sets of genetically identical twins on opposing diets: omnivore and vegan.

Now, we are all for a good study! In fact, we love it, but this failed to evaluate the impact of blood sugar stabilization on both sets of twins and the nutrition plans they were assigned.

Join Carrie to follow the money and learn more about how destructive and misleading this type of information can be.  You’ll start to see the food industry very differently after this week’s episode!

  • Episode 169: Menopause and how to LOVE it

The number one topic of discussion recently has been around menopause and let’s be honest, from what society has told us about what to expect, the hot flashes, the night sweats, the lack of sleep, etc. why wouldn’t we be dreading it? It’s like society wants us to feel like somehow the greatest part of our life is over?! Despite what we’ve been told, this is actually an incredibly powerful time to explore.

This week we are sitting down with functional diagnostic medical practitioner Sarah Ball to learn more about all things menopause. One thing is certain, in Greek culture, the word menopause actually translates to change of life. And, not in a bad way. This shift is really where women can regain their power!

  • Episode 167: Why DN?

Has anyone ever asked you what your WHY is? You know, that thing that drives you, gives you a purpose and doesn’t let anything get in the way of it (there’s no derailing from this you guys). Real transformation doesn’t occur until we can change our thinking and keep our why really strong. Because that little voice in our head will get to us each and every time otherwise, sound familiar? Oftentimes this requires digging really deep, asking yourself a lot of questions and going through a process of self reflection and self analysis.

Well, Carrie has talked many times about the story of why she got healthy, but one of her coaches asked her recently about why she does the work she does every day to make an impact and create a movement through DN.

Join in this week to hear all about Carrie’s WHY and how it has evolved throughout the years.

  • Episode 166: New Year, New Irene

It’s that time of year! We’ve made it past Thanksgiving, Christmas is right around the corner and everyone is starting to think about their goals going into the New Year. Especially this week’s guest, Irene. In the last 5 years alone, she started a new diet every New Year.

She was having some pretty regular symptoms: in addition to heart palpitations, she would get shaky and feel her blood sugar dropping. She’d eat to try to get it stabilized but in general didn’t feel great, was always exhausted and relied on her coffee addiction to get her going in the morning.

After the 4-weeks to wellness program, she doesn’t miss her coffee. She wakes up feeling energized every morning because she’s finally sleeping well. And most importantly, this will be the first year she doesn’t put ‘lose weight’ on her list of New Year’s resolutions!
