昔、長者の娘が川に落ちて行方不明になりました。

易者が居場所を占い、目の不自由な男が命がけで救い、医者が手を尽くして助けました。

長者は、娘の命の恩人を婿にしようと考えましたが、誰ならば娘を幸せにするか見当がつきません。

そこで名奉行・大岡越前に相談をしました。

A long time ago, the daughter of a chieftain fell into a river and went missing.

A fortune teller told him where she was, a blind man risked his life to save her, and a doctor did everything he could to save her.

The elders thought about asking the man who saved their daughter's life to be their son-in-law, but they had no idea who would make her happy.

このつまらない論争が終わらないので、なんと二人は奉行所に駆け込み、名奉行・大岡越前の裁きを求めました。

貧乏だが正直者の餅屋の五郎は、店の前で銀のさじを6本拾います。

五郎は、落とし主は困っているだろうと探し歩きますが、現れません。

やっと現れた落とし主は「この銀のさじは私のものだが、7本だったはず。1本足りない。弁償しろ」と迫ります。

困った五郎は、名奉行・大岡越前の裁きを頼ります。

Goro, a poor but honest rice cake maker, picks up six silver spoons in front of his store.

Thinking that the owner of the silver spoons must be in trouble, Goro searches for him, but he does not show up.

When the owner finally appears, he says, "These silver spoons belong to me, but I thought there were seven of them. You must pay for it.

Goro is troubled and asks for the judgment of the famous magistrate, Ooka Echizen.

弥五郎が目をさますと、大事な荷物の白木綿がありません。

困り果てた弥五郎は、名奉行・大岡越前に訴え出ることとしました。

One hot day, Yagoro, a load carrier, was carrying five hundred reels of white cotton.

On the way, he fell asleep while resting at a Jizo statue under a tree in a temple.

When Yagoro woke up, he found that his precious cargo of white cotton was not there. Distressed, Yagoro decides to appeal to the famous magistrate, Ooka Echizen.
