Today I’m joined by my bestie, fellow Golden Flash, and Midwesterner, Meghann Morrow! I’ve always looked up to Meghann in college because of her ambition and confidence to take the less beaten path. Meghann moved to NYC junior year and decided to stay, started working full-time, and finished her degree online! She shares her journey of building a community in NYC, her first job at Bergdorf Goodman to Ralph Lauren, and how her furlough during covid helped her realize she had outgrown NYC. Meghann shares how toxic friends and her boyfriend ultimately helped her make the decision to move to Austin where she now works in recruiting.

I have to be honest with y’all, these past 2 months I have been doing the exact opposite of what my podcast is all about. I have been putting work before myself, declining invites because I’m “too busy”, and have not been having fun on weekdays. It’s time to turn a new page as we head into fall and make a conscious effort to be productive in my work and personal/social life. Plus… I’m moving! I share some life updates before gearing up for my move out of downtown ATX this weekend.

She says she never wanted to work a corporate job and has always found numerous projects to create different streams of income. At 23, Jenna has found success as a UGC creator and shares advice for others looking to make additional money through social media regardless of followers. Jenna’s work ethic is motivated by the loss of her friend to suicide and boyfriend to addiction during her senior year of highschool. She shares her journey of healing through finding friends that fuel her and having fun on weekdays.

Let’s talk about the evolution of friendships, career goals, and affirmations with my bff from highschool, Emily Dugger. You may remember Emily from episode 10 as we talked about moving to NYC without a job after getting her MBA and comparing herself to her friends. After many interview rejections, Emily realized a mindset shift could help her land a job. She went from saying “why me?” to “what can I change” and secured a job in brand merchandising at Ralph Lauren shortly after! Emily shares what she has learned since starting her corporate job and how her friendships and relationship with her boyfriend have evolved as she started focusing on using affirmations to reflect her goals. We talk about friendship, love languages, treating yourself with kindness, and the importance of being a good friend to yourself.

It went down in the dms… LinkedIn dms that is. A friendship that started from a mutual passion for work led to a relationship! But how does a relationship built on the foundation of work affect work-life balance? Connor and I share how our jobs brought us together and how our careers can become a point of contention. From stress, being tired, conflicting schedules, and competitiveness, we share how work can affect a relationship working - see what I did there?! Having fun on weekdays with your partner is key to making intentional time with your significant other despite the challenges of also pursuing your career.

WHAT!!?!?!?! It’s already been 1 full year since starting Fun on Weekdays?! Let’s recap our accomplishments; from our Facebook page, to events, merch, 1M downloads, and an office! Realizing I’ve been waiting for this milestone to celebrate successes, I share the importance of not waiting for a specific moment to give yourself credit & be proud of yourself… without feeling guilty! I share my vision for Fun on Weekdays and use this anniversary as a time to rebrand & realign on what you can expect from future episodes. Lastly, I reintroduce myself. I’ve changed and grown a lot in the past year (so have you!) and I want you to know me for who I am now, not who I was when Fun on Weekdays was started. 1 year down, let’s party!!!

Well, after 2 years of living in Austin, Texas, I think it’s about time I share all things ATX! I’m not an expert or an official Austinite (how long before you’re considered a local??) but I share what I know about different areas, the types of people here, where to go out, and what do to in Austin if you’re moving here or just visiting. It’s a long one and somehow I only covered about half of what I wanted to share! Stay tuned for my Austin itinerary, but for now enjoy this episode about my favorite weekday activities :)

This week we are throwing it back to when I quit my job!
All right, I'm convinced that we all have that one friend that insists on celebrating their birthday for an entire month! And they are doing something every single day and they always have an excuse to go to dinner or to celebrate because it's their birth month.
For me, I have to say, I kind of feel that way towards Fun on Weekdays. July 27th is my one-year anniversary of starting Fun on Weekdays. When I started this podcast, I was working full-time at TikTok. I was working in advertising and I got the job pretty publicly for anybody new here that maybe doesn't know my origin story and how all of this came to life. I wanted to throw it back to one of my most downloaded episodes talking about me quitting my job.
