In this episode, I’m sharing part of a lecture from our practitioner training program on functional anatomy of the eye. Most of what we learn about the eye is structural — naming parts, memorizing terms — but that’s static. Vision is dynamic. It adapts to environmental demands, and it’s deeply integrated with the brain, the vestibular system, and the whole body.
We walk through the eye from the outside in — eyelids, sclera, cornea, iris, pupil, lens, retina, optic nerve, and the eye muscles — but through a functional lens instead of a purely structural one. Along the way I get into:
* Why sclerology (reading the white part of the eye) can reveal liver, gallbladder, and metabolic imbalances
This is an excerpt from our practitioner training program, so if you’re a parent, OT, or practitioner working with vision, tracking, or learning differences, there’s a lot here to take in.
