We got hold of Harris Thompson, National Rural Ambassador, to share his story and also chat about the current situation in relation to COVID-19. Harris has lived on a farm in the South West of Western Australia for his entire life. Going away to Ag school, he furthered his knowledge in the industry. Coming home, he now supports his family in their three studs including Venturon Livestock. His family also own a local IGA which we also chat about, expanding our discussion to how the supply chain will continue even in a lockdown period.

Today's interview is with Monica Chetty, Director of Strategic Partnerships with Pardoo Beef Corporation. Pardoo Beef Corporation was formed to purchase Pardoo Station, in WA’s Pilbara region in 2015. The station forms the epicenter of a vision for the first purebred Wagyu community in Western Australia’s northwest. Their vision is to produce purebred Wagyu and high quality beef for domestic and international markets and bring jobs to the north.

Monica's career started out in the hospitality industry, and works hard to showcase not only Pardoo's premium product, but all of Western Australia's offerings as an "eating experience".

George Stacey is a 26 year old Queenslander with a blood-deep passion for agriculture. Growing up on a cattle station in North West Queensland, he developed a passion for the land at a young age. After heading down to Brisbane for boarding school, he tried (unsuccessfully) to taste other careers and wound up back in ag again. He has since worked in many areas of agriculture, all across Queensland, landing himself a role with RCS Australia. 

George is also passionate about regenerative agriculture and ensuring that our production land is fit and thriving for generations to come.

Maddison is a research scientist within the Plant Industries Development branch of the Northern Territory Department of Primary Industry and Resources. She studies the impact of climate change on mango flowering in Northern Territory production regions.

Her other studies identify best practice management for Australia’s mango industry and examine the dependency of mango flowering on temperature. She has previously studied fruit quality control throughout export supply chains in both Australia and Cambodia.

Maddison is an advocate for sustainable agricultural practices that empower communities, improve nutritional diversity and preserve natural resources. She is passionate about the communication of science, empowering youth in agriculture and the role of agriculture in sustainable development.

In today's very special International Women's Day bonus episode, we were lucky enough to sit down with National Farmer's Federation President, Fiona Simson. 

Fiona is based on the Liverpool Plains where she, her husband Ed and family run a mixed farming enterprise including broad acre farming as well as breeding commercial poll Hereford cattle. Fiona is the first female President of the NFF in its 41 year history. She has previously served the NFF as Vice President for two years and as a Director since 2011. Fiona was also the first female President of NSW Farmers, retaining that position for a full four year term from 2011 to 2015.

Zoe Hayes describes herself as a 1994 model jillaroo with a passion for mental health. After losing her Mum to suicide just shy of her 18th birthday, she's been on a mission in rural industries trying to make some noise to break the stigma around mental health issues. Sam Johnston can be described as an agricultural enthusiast and young industry trailblazer who has one aim - to showcase where Australian food and fibre comes from, who makes it and how it's made.

He has a strong rural background, born and bred west of Forbes, NSW. His passion is to be the link between producer and consumer, city and bush and does his best to promote Australia's agricultural industry and its primary producers wherever he goes.

After finishing his Bachelor of Agricultural Economics at the University of Sydney, Sam joined the Meares & Associates team as a rural property sales & marketing specialist.

Overall he is a strong advocate for the agricultural sector and its farmers as seen by his efforts as co-founder of the social media organisation and movement #ThankAFarmerForYourNextMeal, as well as being named a 2019 Royal Agricultural Society of NSW Rural Achiever and evokeAG. 2020 Future Young Leader.
