Today's guest, Zadous Pollard, shares about her career as both a salaried w-2 and commission-only 1099 rep.
One has a salary, benefits, established training, and support, BUT is more competitive to get hired. The other has more risk and reward being all commission, but it would be easier to get started with since you are taking more of the risk!
Both can be great a great opportunity for you. It really depends on your values and priorities. Once you figure out what you need and want, you can find the best opportunity for your situation.
To help you find the best path, I have a coaching session entitled, Develop Your Story. Here we have you think about not only your talents and abilities but also your passions and interests. We will answer the question of what is your 'why". This becomes crucial to help you find the right medical sales job where you will excel and have a successful career.
Zadous started with a traditional role as a salaried rep, where she was one of only 5 out of 1,000 people hired! I asked her how she stood out, so please be ready to take notes of your own!
We discuss personal finances and how she saved a pile of cash by pocketing all her commission checks! You will make a lot of money in medical and pharmaceutical sales, so be intentional, and it can change your life!
You will hear her share so much about her "why" and how it drives her every day to be super successful.
At the end, she shares an invitation to learn more about the 1099 opportunity that she is involved with!
As you consider your different options, I can help coach you to success!

Today, we have Evet Albazi on our show!
Evet Albazi is a Doctor of Pharmacy. She talks about how she took the 1099 opportunity as a pathway to break into medical sales and how you can do it too!
Many of you are hard at work trying to get an interview and then get through the interview process to land an awesome job in medical sales.
However, that's not the only path.
Today, Evet talks about the 1099 opportunity.
This is different from the traditional role because it is commission-based.
However, because it's only commission, there's less risk the company has to take, and companies are often much more willing to work with you.
Remember, like most parts of this industry, it can still be complicated, and there can be barriers to entry.
Key Tip: Once you get your foot in the door and prove yourself, you will have opportunities to make a lot of money and rep different products.
In essence, you are building your own business. This means your success and financial well-being is up to you.
Along the way, you might find that you want to leverage your experience and apply for a traditional role with salary, benefits, and a corporate safety net.
Evet shares her story about pursuing both paths in her life and career!
As you consider your different options, I can help coach you to success with either path!

Today, we are privileged to have Stephanie Tudino back on our show!
Stephanie is a Key Account Specilaist at Gilson, Inc.
She shares how my 7 Steps to Get Hired in Medical Sales coaching program helped her!
We discuss the value of learning networking and interviewing skills and practicing them so you get better.
She said hiring me as a coach was risky, but she's very happy she took the risk.
My coaching helped her land her first medical sales job, where she received a significant pay increase!
She said the most helpful part of my training is the role play.
We role-play various scenarios to prepare you for interviews and eventually being on sales calls.
We practice answering questions like, "Why should I hire you?".
These situations will help you get "comfortable being uncomfortable."
Key Tip: Always have a reason as to why they should hire you and why a customer should see you!
In medical sales, "just stopping by to see a customer" is not a reason they should see you!
Instead, say you are here "to check on their medical supplies or provide a new piece of clinical information."
What is the next step for you to get hired in medical sales?
My course, 7 Steps to Get Hired in Medical Sales, offers both online and live one-on-one coaching and training.

She chose a straight commission sales to get her foot in the door!
This is referred to as a 1099 position verses a salary job which is W-2.
Se took her clinical training and found a job that has no salary, expense reimbersement but also no cap on earnings!
It is usually easier to get hired in a 1099 position because you don't have to have the minimum sales experience that other jobs require.
The down side is there is way less training and support because it is an independent postion.
You learn as you go. She started selling and has built up a steady business!
The lesson here is be creative and find your path! Others might need more B2B sales experience or be around a medical or clinical setting to gain experience!
Develop your story and find your transferable skills!
Bring your passion as she did!
Today's guest, Adam Rezner, is another example of not needing sales experience to get hired in medical or pharmaceutical sales.
He did join my coaching program where we worked on his transferable skills and success stories!
We also practiced interview skills and did mock interviews to prepare him to excell in the competitive interview process.
For most people it will take learning specific skills to network and interview and continue to improve untill you get hired!

Things like team work, good communication skills, ambition, being a fast starter, being a problem solver, handling rejection and overcoming objections, organizational skills and be a good planner! Do these sound familiar, of course, you are probably doing them now or in past jobs or in college or in sports!
The first step of my training is to have you make lists and think through specicfic examples. This is a great first step so you will be able to talk about them when you are networking and interviewing!
My approach is to get you start selling yourself and the best way to do this is to have fun and build up your confidence with all your great stories! Then you will be eager to meet people and learn about how to bring out your transferable skills during these conversations.
