• The Lazy Girl job is not a new thing. People have been doing this forever. We used to have Lazy Girl jobs when we were in our 20s. We hated them.
• If you are taking care of yourself, and setting boundaries and not taking your work home, that isn't a Lazy Girl job. That's just being smart and looking after yourself.
• Why is the Lazy Girl job trend being glorified?
• The majority of our lives are spent at work, so it's important that these hours are also enjoyed.
• Don't label yourself as a Lazy Girl. If you feel like you're being lazy, then ask for more. Ask for something else. Ask for a different opportunity. Ask for more from yourself.
• Show up and do your best. But, have self-compassion as well. Your best today may be different from yesterday.
• Upon reflection, some of the highest moments of our lives are the times of hard work, such as building the MerryBody membership.
• If you really want to succeed, there's no laziness about it.
• Make wonderful things. Make something from nothing. Don't be lazy!

A new month brings a new theme inside MerryBody, this month it's Self-Worth. Low self-worth has been something we've both grappled with, in the episode we delve into this very important topic. We'll discuss various behaviours and emotions that could signal a struggle with self-worth. We also share practical ideas to help boost your self-worth!

• What is self-worth? And what isn't self-worth?
• A sign of low self-worth is constant self-criticism, you know that harsh inner critic where everything you do is wrong.
• Other signs are the continuous belittling of yourself, dismissal of any achievement and heightened focus on your mistakes.
• Perfectionism is another habit of low self-worth.
• Not being able to accept compliments and downplaying the situation show low self-worth.
• Fear of judgment and rejection is another behaviour of low self-worth.
• The first step to building your self-worth is to realise that you have low self-worth and that you want to make a change.
• Practising self-compassion is a way to build your self-worth. It's self-acceptance, acknowledging your feelings, and recognising yourself as a human who has strengths and weaknesses.
• Pay attention to how you talk to yourself, because your thoughts are powerful and they shift how you feel.
• Set a little goal for yourself. Accomplish something!
• Practise self-care.

The energy that you put towards working on your self-worth has the potential to shift everything.

• It's a 100% YES, you can hack a good mood! But it all comes down to awareness of what creates a good mood for yourself.
• A great night's sleep is a hack for good mood.
• Maybe you're in a situation right now where you are not where you want to be.. You feel uninspired and flat.
• The easiest hack to a good mood is to shift your current state.
• Exercise is such an underused tool to create a good mood. It's not just for a physical transformation. This is why we're doing our next challenge, 21 Day Good Mood Challenge, inside MerryBody.
• Moments of stillness, such as a 2-minute deep breathing session or a 10-minute guided meditation, lead to a good mood.
• Cold therapy, such as ice baths, now that is an instant mood shifter. Check out Episode 246: The Wim Hof Method with Dani Smith.
• It's really important to know ourselves and understand what works for us.

This week's episode is inspired by our own story of Hofstadter's Law which is the idea that everything takes longer than you think it's going to take, even when you know it's going to take longer than you expect it to take. The episode is filled with kick-in-butt motivation, so if you've been thinking about starting a project or stepping towards a dream, THIS episode is for you!

This is what we spoke about during the episode

•  Once you realise everything takes longer than you think it does, sometimes it stops you from even starting. Embrace the fact that time will pass anyway. Jump in and do it (even if the project takes a while)!
• Hofstadter's Law gives you a bit of breathing space.
• If we went according to our original plan for our MerryBody Teacher Training, we would have been finished. But then, we realised we needed more time. And, then more ideas came! So although it's taking longer, it's a better product.
• Easy does not mean better. Sometimes the hard moments are actually the really beautiful moments.
• Estée Lauder's business story is an example of a later-in-life success story. Her success came when she was already 40 plus. So, why are we expecting things to happen so fast?
• It's important to check in with who you are following and getting inspiration from.
• We can't control everything. But we can control the choices that we make and how we spend our time.
• Let go of the reins a little, detach from expectations, so you can enjoy the journey. 
• As long as we're taking the steps toward what it is that we would like to create, we are getting closer. It's okay that the journey from A to B is longer than we think.

• Self-reflection is a way to understand ourselves, how we interact with the life around us, and how we learn to do better.
• Self-reflection is a place where judgment should not exist. Rather than judgment, go in with acceptance front of mind.
• There are certain Yoga poses inside the MerryBody App, such as forward folds, that really invite self-reflection and going inwards. You're gazing inward on yourself, you're forward folding toward yourself and getting to know you.
• Where is the time for self-reflection and how do we make time for this? We listened to the Founders podcast episode about Brunello Cucinelli and how he would spend hours and hours in contemplation.
• Practising Yoga is a method to go inwards and can help you realise your morals and ethics.
• Self-reflection helps us understand perception vs. reality. This realisation helps you let go of your righteousness.
• How do we actually practice self-reflection? Yoga is a great practice, especially yin yoga. Write, journal, walk in nature. Sit by yourself and welcome in your thoughts. 
• If you haven't done a Yin Yoga class, check out one of our classes on YouTube. It's called Love Your Liver Yin Yoga.

Self-reflection helps us to learn from the past and live better in the present.

How can you avoid falling into the trap of constantly comparing yourself to your competitors? How can you ensure that the presence of competition doesn't stop you? Even for those who don't run a business, it's easy to feel this competitive mindset and to let it get you down. How do we not let it get us down?!

This is what we spoke about during the episode

• Whenever we catch ourselves in that competition mindset, we remember the lesson we learnt from Joshua Rosenthal (founder of IIN). Look sideways. You are me, I am you, and we are one. No one is above you. No one is below you. We're all the same.
• Awareness is the first step to not get stuck. You need to have the awareness to then go ahead and make a change.
• Looking at your competition is not necessarily a bad idea. Get inspiration from other people and learn from them.
• Look at your business and take note of your differentiation. How are you different to the competition? What do you do that's different to them? Or what do you not do?
• Define what success means to you personally and stop comparing your success to someone else's success, because it might not even be what you want. 
• Cultivate a positive mindset. Learn how to be resilient and how to bounce back.
• You need to have a tool that diverts your thoughts. 
• Just focus on the next step and see what happens. What's one action step you can take right now to get you out of your head and into the work?
• Look at what you do have, instead of what you don't have.
• Look after yourself, when your cup is full, you show up as a more kind, more compassionate, more patient, more focused, more vibrant version of yourself.
• Set goals, but also learn to detach from them and enjoy the journey toward the goals.
• There's no one else on the planet exactly like you. Stay in your own lane with confidence, love, passion, excitement, and with a sense of pride.
• Stop focusing so much on the competition and focus on collaboration instead.

• As human beings, it's normal to have a negative bias. Until you have awareness of your thoughts and realise which ones to keep and let go of, it will remain like that.

• When you feel uncomfortable, it usually means you're growing and it's a good thing.
• One of the key themes of Yoga is compassion, not just for others but also for yourself.
• Accepting yourself exactly as you are, right here, right now, is a practice of self compassion.
• Be kind to yourself along this journey aka life.

This episode was inspired by an interview with Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age when he said “Confidence Breeds Confidence and Panic Breeds Panic”. Not a band we listen to often (Damiano’s style of music) but wow, we just really loved this statement and could relate. We notice when one of us feels quite stressed and anxious about work, it can be easy to ‘catch’ that feeling. And it works vice versa when one of us is feeling confident about work… it’s catchable. What happens when we bring awareness to this?

• Taking action is the ultimate way to overcome ‘stuckness’ and panic.
• Sometimes you need to have the confidence to just take the next step. And then everything changes.
• How we decide to do something is just as important as doing the thing. 
• Detaching to the end goal can help you enjoy the journey.
• We need to accept our current situation in order to change it.
• While we’re in acceptance phase, let’s look at everything we’ve already created and achieved and be grateful for that.

• It's normal to question yourself. We feel it, too.
